He'll get paid something like Hebert, Love or Hurts and the team will structure it to be friendly enough to keep a strong team around him.

Aside from our game against them, did you watch them in the regular season at all this year? They were probably the luckiest, most over-achieving 15-game winner in NFL history.

Mahomes did not win 15 games. Chris Jones, Butker, and their opponents being consistently stupid won them 15 games. Mahomes didn't even have a Pro Bowl year.

I get it. "Herp derp good teams WIN they find ways to WIN!! THEY'RE SO AMAZING!!" I could understand that argument… if they had won maybe 2-3 games on literally the last play and won most other games by 8-10 points. They won EIGHT games on literally the last play this year—And it always took their opponent being a total moron at the end to do it. The Raiders literally fumbled a basic snap ffs. How does that make Mahomes so great?

i push back on the luck take. they have a first ballot HOF QB, and HOF HC, and perhaps HOF DC, with a DPOY type DT, and a host of young talent. so i see a lot of competitive advantage (that may give the appearance of luck). you give any NFL city a HOF HC and HOF QB and they will probably get very lucky real fast. i feel in SF we do more to fulfill the coach side of the equation than the QB side.

All that all-time talent and they literally needed the majority of their clearly inferior regular season opponents to make final-play gaffes to win. That's pretty sad and not the complement you think it is, tbh.

They got rightfully exposed in the Super Bowl the moment they played a competent team without referee help. Like, not just exposed as in they lost but they got destroyed out of the building so badly that even the most oblivious people started wondering how much they were getting carried by controversial officiating all year and even over their last few Super Bowl runs. It's kind of hilarious, actually.

i try to be real about it. they are an all time team. this year's version beat us handily. they came into our yard and it looks like brock had 3 ints.

i was loving watching them get wrecked in the super bowl. i don't refer to them as lucky or exposed, they just had no answers in the big game.
Mahomes is a great QB who has lost multiple Super Bowls and s**t the bed in one of them.

Actually he was awful in 2.5

Bucs and this recent Eagles game, and the first 3 quarters of the first Niners SB he was awful. His career SB passer rating is only 86.9. Compared to Brady's 97.7 and Joe Montana's 127.8.

Everytime I see the stats laid out it reaffirms my belief that Joe is the GOAT. He was Michael Jordan in the SB. 11 TD's, 0 INT. 68% comp. Dismantled Dan Marino and John Elway.

montana is my favorite player from childhood. i can say looking back, that he was tremendous, and also had the benefit of pairing up with the perfect coach and system. one knock on joe, is he was pretty much injured his entire career. i don't know if he ever played a full season. joe incidentally was in KC and they didn't get to a SB, let alone win a SB. mahomes has won 3 with KC. the best QB of all time is clearly tom brady. he elevated the patriots to a 2 decade long dynasty, he then team flips and wins a SB in his first season with a new team. he won 7 rings. you can actually put montana and mahomes together and you get brady's ring total. there is just no contest.

So does that make Bill Russell the best basketball player ever? Yogi Berra the best baseball player? Henri Richard the best hockey player ever?

LOL do you not understand why Montana was always injured? Because he played in an era when QB's were brutalized, and the league didn't GAF. Defenses were trying to end guys' careers, and that was just accepted. Montana was the toughest SOB ever for being that small, getting destroyed constantly, and still winning 4 titles.

Brady was pampered by the refs by a league that protected him as their cash cow. Any 49ers fan should understand why Montana is the greatest. No protection, no helmet radios, and he was flawless on the biggest stage. Never got embarrassed or lost to a mediocre opposing QB.

Of course its a team sport, but without Joe we have zero SB's. Our elite defense didn't mean crap against the Ravens or the Chiefs. Joe was the difference maker.

These arguments are silly. The AFC was a joke for the bulk of the 49ers dynasty in the 80s and 90s. Not losing a SB is great, but we lost before then plenty of times. Losing before the SB isn't better than losing in the Super Bowl. We have won five of fifty nine.

i understand that aspect. even so, QBs like elway and marino didn't miss the time joe did. durability is a real thing, and it's legitimate to say joe didn't score highly in that department. joe wasn't exactly a big QB that could take a pounding.

Joe being small shouldn't be a knock against his legacy. Elway and Marino were big dudes. Obviously they were going to withstand the beating better. You don't get to discredit a player for missing time with injuries if they were sustained from hits. Non contact? Sure. Call his conditioning into question. But lets test your availability after you get blindsided by Lawrence Taylor.

Joe's era > Brady's era. 7 Brady era rings aren't as impressive as 4 Montana era rings. Nevermind all the cheating scandals Brady had going on during his time.
