In 2026. Because Brock could refuse to play under the tag, knowing teams are interested after he returned to MVP form. The 49ers aren't going to eat the cap space while he sits home in protest just because they think he's being unreasonable in being pissed off they didn't extend him.

For some pointless speculation:
Miami: Tua has a history of concussions and Mike McDaniel would like the fact Brock is experienced in the system.
New Orleans: At that point they'll probably give up on Carr turning them around.
Dallas: Jerry Jones could come to the conclusion Dak Prescott isn't good enough to win the Super Bowl.
Chicago: Caleb Williams is terrible, and they may come to that realization when he still sucks in his second season.
Indianapolis: They'll accept Anthony Richardson is a bust at that point.
Pittsburgh: They're not in position to take a QB high unless they trade up, and Russell Wilson is obviously not the answer.
