Per Jonnydel, Purdy's ceiling is however high he takes it, the game is much more mental than physical.

I agree with Jonnydel 100%. That was what I have been arguing all along. We need to stop saying Purdy has a low ceiling.

Depends what you mean by "ceiling." If you mean overall, then yep, his ceiling is Hall of Fame. Drew Brees didn't have an amazing arm either, and he's first ballot. Same with Peyton Manning. But if you mean, will he be able to be Mahomes, a physical marvel? Not quite. However, he can move, so it's not like his physical boundary is Peyton Manning. It's higher than that.

But yeah, his ceiling is as high as he makes it, for sure.

Josh Allen 37.0%
Pat Mahomes 31.4%
Dak Prescott 29.6%
Trev Lawrence 28.4%
Kirk Cousins 28.2%
Tua Tagovailoa 27.9%
Geno Smith 27.0%
Jared Goff 25.6%
Jalen Hurts 24.5%
Joe Burrow 24.2%
Brock Purdy 23.8%
Justin Herbert 21.8%
Tom Brady 17.4%
Jim Garoppolo 16.7%

Where'd you get that stat? (I know I ask that frequently, but it's a good stat)

3rd and 4--throw to the sticks? Nah, f that, we need points! I love this about Purdy.

Best thing about him is that he throws to the open man. Seems simple, but we haven't had that since, god, Jeff Garcia?

We haven't seen anyone pump fake someone open since Jeff Garcia either.
Win #6 in impressive fashion playing the QB position and then we'll talk.

Don't curr about regular season. Jimmy was a liability in the playoffs and why we don't have #6 already.

Although I like what I've seen so far no doubt.

Since I first saw him in the preseason the biggest thing that stood out about Purdy was how deliberate he is with the ball. Its like he already knows what he wants to do with his 2nd or 3rd options if the 1st isn't available, and processes the information fast enough to cycle through them.

He also seems to really feel the pocket around him while keeping his eyes downfield. The best QB can be aware of both simultaneously. The mediocre QB's can only focus on one aspect.

On that Mahomes-like pass a couple weeks back where he juked a pass rusher and made an off-balanced, improv throw to Deebo for the 1st down, I knew we had something.

Kyle is probably just thrilled to have a QB who sees the guys he keeps scheming open on a regular basis. I swear Jimmy would force some 5 yard out when he had a guy wide open for a TD 15 yards deeper downfield. Jimmy just couldn't see that guy.

He's just a natural at the position.

Pff has drop back splits for clean pocket, under pressure, blitzed and not blitzed. I simply took the number of 1st downs and divided by the number of drop backs from the under pressure category.

Ah. I really ought to start using their site. Mainly I don't like the layout and the fact that you have to create an account (this aggravates me, I can't explain). But that's a good source. I should stop being a player hater.

But... I think the only thing that will hold Purdy back is himself. He can do everything at least good enough. I haven't seen anything in his game yet where I could see an obvious area where he can struggle in.

He can't let his success get to his head and think he can take it a bit easier in the off-season, practice, preparation, those type of things.

The biggest knock I can give him right now is his size. He's gonna need to be able to protect himself, and it seems like he's already pretty good at that.

Imo, he's got the instics to play the position well, and his arm is fine enough to make the majority of the throws. No, he'll never be able to roll to his left and throw a 50 yard rope, but that just isn't that necessary.

Playoffs are gonna be a different animal though, more holding / pi is allowed, defenses will be better. If he shows that he can handle playoff football, you gotta roll with this kid as the starter next year.

The only real weakness so far is passing lanes and knock downs at the LOS. He sometimes has to to slide into a window to see/pass.
