I would too, but that's because the available evidence suggests he is a better option than Jimmy right now. If I thought Jimmy was a better player right now, I'd want Jimmy to play. If all three QBs were healthy now I'd want Lance to be third on the depth chart to finish out the season. The team is ready to win the Super Bowl this season. The best player should play at every position, especially QB, to give us the best chance.

Let's not go too hard on JG. The team was playing very well with him at QB. When he was injured the air just went out of the stadium. Everyone was crushed because they knew they had it going. Then…Purdy…

That is wild when we know Trey was drafted as a raw project that needed to sit a year or maybe even 2 as even stated by Jed York! Brock obviously came prepared to compete in this league with the work ethic experience and the skill set to boot. We knew Trey was gonna take time and game reps is probably best but he was so raw year 1 he needed to sit and watch. He will compete this offseason and he may again have to sit and watch as he is now

I personally want to win the chip this year then after that I am gonna trust coach even more and because he will have won he will have the cachet to hold a QB competition as the fan base will be more apt to gladly tolerate it. Winning a chip buys one more leeway

I disagree.

The best thing Shanahan and his CS can do next off-/ preseason is build up on the chemistry Purdy and the first team have developed.

I don't want any meaningful reps to be taken from Brock in order for Trey to keep learning the position.

Yes. We have a promising young player in Purdy. If Kyle is 90% certain Purdy is the guy for next season, Kyle needs to give Purdy the 1st team reps throughout mini camp, training camp, and pre-season.

I agree with this 100 percent.

…JG was playing better than he ever had.

History.
One thing Purdy has already proved for me at least is that he will be our #1 or #2 QB for the foreseeable future. For the literal last pick in the draft; incredible value and steal. Love this kid

Is that saying that much? Kinda low bar he set for himself. While i agree that he was playing better this year, it's not like he looked that amazing.

Purdy has been better, and he's a rookie. He's at least shown the ability to stretch the field while still being efficient.

I do hope Jimmy can be healthy enough for the playoffs though, need him ready if anything happens to Purdy.

What the what. Let's be very clear here.

Jimmy doesn't escape a collapsing pocket and look downfield for open receivers like BCB. Jimmy doesn't have the legs to move up or around defenders looking to sack him. Jimmy doesn't scare defenses bc he's not as multi-dimensional as BCB.

There's a reason why Aiyuk and Kittle are putting up better numbers with BCB at QB. Because he can AND will take those shots downfield.

For those pro Jimmy, go back and look at the tape in the NFCCG. Go back and look how many times Kittle and Aiyuk were streaking up the sidelines wide ass open and Jimmy G never looked their way. Aiyuk was dejected AF for being so open and Jimmy not going his way. Ever. That's what you guys yearn for? Get real. We finally have a QB that can run the offense that Shanny wants to run. Enjoy the damn ride.

Sure. And Brock now is playing better than JG ever has.

Realistically it's the NFC title game at the earliest.

This.

And why is Jimmy being mentioned in this thread anyways.

Jimmy G back up to the Purdster? Or Jimmy gone and Lance is backup? Who knows. But today Brock is rockin'. What's not to like about this guy? He is authentic & based. No fake bullchit. Love it.

So Jimmy set the bar so low that you can basically suck but still make the NFCC and SB? Should be easy for Brock then right? Anything less should be unacceptable. This is arguably a better defense too.

I'm being slightly passive aggressive/sarcastic there but I say let's let the kid prove himself first. Let him win a playoff game and then go in the road and have a game winning drive like Jimmy has against GB.

I'm confident Brock can dump the ball to Deebo and let him win the game with his legs just the same to get a fg.

Mr. limited who started the same amount of games in college as Trey. Only has Kendrick Bourne as his #1 still looks better than Trey with a loaded roster.

Sounds like fans around these parts are calling for the "backup" too right? 🤔

He spent $85M on two pass catching TEs. He's never had to spend elite money on WRs. Wait did he look better when he threw 7INTs in his last 5 games? We have even gotten to see 5 starts from Lance to determine anything.

McCorkle's been too busy cleating guys, twisting ankles and tossing out dirty hits to improve lol. Niner fans aren't screaming mid game to bench Lance for the backup. We haven't in had a chance to do that. Mac's has almost two seasons
