Unfortunately that's what the NCAA has unleashed. They failed to put any restrictions on how much these players can demand. I heard one person say that players shouldn't be allowed to make that money until they've played 2 years. This current situation is out of control.
To be fair, I think college football has outgrown or obsoleted a lot of the NCAA rules. Name Likeness and imaging are owned by the players (or should be) and should not be owned/regulated by the NCAA. That's (To me) saying CatchMaster80 can't own his house because he put NFL logos on it. (or something like that - if I understand the rules regarding how these college players make millions on their names and images while still in college).
