I look at the last 15 years of MVP or so and the one that stands out as the most to me is the one time it didn't go to a QB… and that's Adrian Peterson. He had an incredible year. 2000 yards rushing. Vikings made the playoffs with him carrying the offense and had Christian Ponder at QB. Still, there's no f**king way he was a more valuable player that season than Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Drew Brees, for example. Any of these teams hang up the phone laughing if the Vikings call and try to trade Peterson for their QB.

There's no need to separate for position in the awards because you have OPOY and DPOY, and that's where you can reward unbelievable seasons by players in positions outside of QBs.

I think it would be cool if they had similar awards to college.
Could make a whole show about it like the ESPYs. It would be more entertaining that flag f**kin football. Lol
You can have
OPOY
DPOY
RBOY
WROY
TEOY

etc - for each position group. It would be good for the players because they have more negotiating power on contracts. You can also honor the past greats by naming the awards (Rice Trophy - WRs, Jim Brown Award - RBs etc).

i just think it's lame that in a sport with 22 important guys on the field, all important in their own way, that essentially QBs/DEs are the only ones who get awards.

To me that's the all pro team.

Between MVP, O and DPOY, and the All Pro Team, we have recognition covered IMO.

MVP is a fake award, it's MVQB, but football is a game with a lot more going on than a QB spinnin it

There's a lot more going on that a QB playing QB, but no position has a greater impact on the game. We are talking value here.

Yeah, that's why it's apples to apples to do a QB of the Year Award, the P Manning Award, he could have a lil trophy with a big forehead and everything
then do the real football players for MVP call that the Rice Award, so he gets two awards now, and finally an NFL MVP (regular season edition)

Again, as stated above, these awards are already in place for all practical purposes.

'Real football players' lol.

Why group all non-QBs together when non-QB positions all have different values and importance. But then we already have all pro first team that measured players against others in the same position, so we don't need additional awards.

Just tired of MVP being a QB of the year honor, can't tell me Lamar was more valuable than CMC or Trent. CMC matched a like 50 year old record. I thought he was much better than Lamar, TB12 I think agreed, however it will probably go to Lamar.

I would like to see a LT get it one year, that will never happen, but when Trent is out there, he is indeed as valuable as anyone, if not in fact, the most valuable player.

MVP is MVP, just because it happened to be a QB every year doesn't mean MVP is fake MVP.

Change the name of the award to Most Outstanding Player so that voters don't have to try and interject "value" into the equation.

MVP is a QB award no doubt. If it wasnt CMC would win .

Great chance of taking home OPOY. Likely between him and Hill.

Perfectly* appropriate too because neither of them are the most valuable players in the league… even if you removed all QB's from consideration.

It just happens that CMC is not the most valuable player, so he won't win MVP.

Who gives a s**t about power rankings; it subjective. This isnt college football.

Jackson is good but overrated. Purdy has better numbers across the board and CMC has been dominant.
