For sure he's not going anywhere. The Franchise Tag is the ceiling of what Brock can ask for - in a sense. If Purdy asks for too much *beyond* the F-Tag amount, 49ers will just keep franchise tagging him forever (in a way) until they can afford him or get him under a contract he'll accept.

Purdy will get paid at the right time, right way and right amount. He deserves it and Shanahan needs him. Period.

Heh, Kyle allows Brock to call timeouts!

Kyle doesn't even allow his assistant coaches to call time outs. That's how much Brock means to Kyle. Brock will get paid, even overpaid, because that's how much Kyle needs him. Period.

I went out of my way to shut down those Jimmy-to-Purdy parallels last year.
He has zero interest in discussing anything realistic, so dude must be going thru alotta Jimmy trauma still.

I do bet there will be calls for qb competition and even replacement from a very small minority of fans (larger on other SM outlets) if we fail to win the SB this year especially if Brock doesn't play well in a loss.

Let's hope we avoid it for obvious reasons.

I agree with Random's point here about it being a good thing that we have additional time to evaluate Purdy.

While I think Purdy is the longterm answer currently it doesn't offend me if another poster doesn't. I've bumped heads with him on other topics but I think he prioritizes what he thinks is best for the team, as I do.

Agree to disagree. For me, I've seen Joe and Steve play. I've seen Jeff and Tim Rattay play, Jeff Kemp, Elvis Gerbac etc... I know what I see, and what I see in Purdy is a generational player. I think Kyle sees that too, considering Kyle's extensive experience first hand with some great QB's. He saw a good player in Jimmy - just from that 5-0 start - and got a Superbowl and three NFC Championship games out of Jimmy. I'm sure he sees something special in Purdy. That's why he traded Trey away.
