Purdy throws touchdowns and wins games.

Allen's receivers are showing to be open, but not by much, right?

so much for Lamar is throwing to no one. Who ever he is throwing to is wide ass open.

He's hitting open receivers at a greater rate than any other QB over the full season, and only less than the Senator since week 8.

Probably some good decision making happening there

I've been watching him this season and I don't think his stats reflect how good he's done, considering the circumstances. I think there is a good chance they win the division but def win out and get in the playoffs 11-6.

i said it earlier, I think he will take second in the mvp voting and I think we play the bills in the super bowl. Been my prediction (super bowl matchup) since the off season.

One of the coolest things I've ever seen, especially from this organization. I never got to watch the montana and young days live.

i think he's competing with 2004 manning for most efficient season ever, I may be off on that but think I saw that somewhere.

im feeling a huge game coming from him on Christmas! Feels like the offense is hitting its best self at the perfect time - as we head into the playoffs. Couple that with the first round bye…. Boy this team is going to be a problem

Looks like Brock is just throwing dimes and Lamar just hitting wide ass open receivers? Lol

Lol huh? Per this chart, they're both tied in hitting wide ass open receivers for the season. Take a 2nd look and understand the axes.

Lol what? You mean that since the bye - Brock has been hitting the open receiver about as much as his season average but they're open by less than nearly 1/3 of what they have been when you average out the entire season?

The reason Lamar's been in the discussion here is due to a season-long MVP race.

You are reading the chart wrong,...as they are pretty much deadlocked for the season on the % of throws to open receivers per the graphic.

Assisting you with the visualization:

The dimes vs. dead open WRs thing couldn't be any further from the truth if we're trusting this graphic. Again,...they are tied in this department and as one would suspect, Shanny and Co. have done a pretty damn good job having guys open. Really thinking our guys weren't getting open should've caused you to take a 2nd look before saying something like that...lol. Just look @ our squad.

Now as far as the amount @ which receivers are actually getting open (which would be receiving stat just put on the graphic for context), it has Baltimore a couple spots ahead of us. It doesn't even list it as a rate,...but an amount,...which is kinda crazy to even suggest you can actually measure without some superb AI bot assisting you or something.

Nevertheless that axis is besides the point shown above.

Some here prefer to be blinded cheerleaders (you're a big Jimmy guy regardless of facts, right?). Others are more interested in what's really going on between the sidelines. To each his own, I guess.

Brock_STAR Montana Brees Purdy is light years ahead of Lamar Overrated. Look at the stats. Just because you are a Baltimore fan. Purdy is MVP.

That's what makes him different than all the other QB's we have had in the last 20yrs. What I like most is where JG would check down a lot Purdy will look for the deeper WR. And hit it. I am starting to call him Brock "Kill Shot" Purdy!!!!!!!! Love this young man!!!!! Anyway Go Niners !!!!
High school Purdy. This was an absolutely epic match-up between Purdy's school Perry and Hamilton, a massive high school football powerhouse out here that featured a much more highly regarded and recruited QB in Tyler Shough who would end up at Oregon but has bounced around since.

They would have a rematch a few years later when Oregon played Iowa State at the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale and Purdy came out on top again.

From the HS game:

Lack of anticipation, multiple hospital balls, multiple turnovers.

This Purdy guy has no future.

Tyler Shough looks like Josh Allen out there. We should get him. Nice little Randy Moss impression by #7.

------

(nice to see we can add the Philly special to our playbook as Brock can catch a TD).

It's a vicous cycle of getting coaches and players. You must have stability at the top down. Look at CMC, his talent didn't diminished, Carolina had some talents, they didn't have a coach capable of putting it together. Miami the same, they have had talent for years. Couldn't get a decent coach worth his salt. Some overrated mess went through the HC position. McDaniels came in knew exactly what he has and most importantly what he needed. Quick turnaround. Demeco got Stroud. He may not be as successful without Stroud, but I think Demeco would still win some games you don't expect even without Stroud. The ability of a HC knowing what he want, what he need, and what makes a winning locker room with good characters are so important. It also affect the teams ability to develop talent and keeping them on the team.

You want the 49ers model, get a Shanahan lol

Agree 💯% and one example is Kyle wanting YACs, so he gets big bodied WRs that can also block because he wants to run the ball as well as pass catchers that can break tackles and run after the catch. Deebo, Aiyuk, Jauan are all guys that are big and can block, and can also win contested catches. Everybody want's a Deebo, Aiyuks and Jauans, but you need a coach and a culture that can bring out the best in these raw draftees and who will become super stars. But it starts with the Coach and his offensive system. I"m pretty sure Kyle would draft different players if he was a Air Coryell guy, for example.

As for QB's, they are so hard to evaluate. You take the best athlete and best college record and hope for the best. Yes evaluate as best as you can for your system, but so many times it's a crap shoot and luck of the draw. Tom, Joe, Steve, Brock, Brees, Manning, Russel Wilson etc... are all examples of just getting lucky.

At least for a third string developmental guy that is easy on the cap. As of now, we have 1 QB under contract next year. I think we may resign a guy (maybe even darnold if he's enjoying his time here) and then have our third stringer be a development guy on the cheap contract.

I think a lot of the fans expectations got clouded as far as depth at the position based on what we did last offseason. We signed a fairly expensive backup (and offered incentives) because of Purdy's injury and the fact that Trey was unplayable. Provided Brock makes it through the season healthy, I think we invest minimally at the backup spots going forward. A dirt cheap vet (hopefully Darnold if his market is dry) and a rookie. The same plan we had at the beginning of '22 offseason (Sudfeld/Purdy)

Yeah, we spent a lot of backup QBs - very abnormal amount, for the reasons you said. We also had some extra cap room this year. Going forward, a few mil will be critical and investing it at that position usually isn't the greatest bang for your buck.

darnold will most likely be too expensive for us, unless he's just finally having a great time and loves it here.

we will see how it plays out but I also expect it to be a minimally invested position now that we are much more certain of QB1 going forward (assuming he's healthy).

i think we draft a guy for sure though

I would agree also. Sam and Allen are one year rentals and you probably want a 2nd string guy that will be here multiple years and be also a good developmental player, that possibly can be traded at a later date to recover some draft capital or get a comp pick. The 3rd string QB most likely be a free agent or a undrafted guy. You never know, Kurt Warner was undrafted.

Personally, I think Allen fits the bill better than Sam as QB2, in my opinion. But I can understand Kyle wanting a top flight first round level athlete at backup QB like Sam.
Couple months old but good
