You think a Super Bowl winning QB, who at this point, looks like an upgrade over two QBs making WAY more money than him isn't going to want to renegotiate?

Money in your hand has more value than money you may get in the future. Should Purdy lead the team to a ring, BOTH sides have incentive to renegotiate.

You can't extend someone on a rookie contract until their third year anyways so its not happening.

Yes, but I was wondering if it were possible to do a wink and nod move where they officially cut him and then sign him as a free agent. I imagine some sort of penalty could be possible.

Lol no.

Matt Maiocco is one of the most unbiased and impartial reporters for the 49ers. I listen to his 49er podcast all the time. so his comments say a lot.

You cut him, I'm pretty sure he goes through waivers

Ah sheet that's right forgot that one. I was under the impression that only applied during the season, but I think I'm mistaken on that.

It would be a dumb move to cut Brock and see if he survived waivers just to sign him to a better contract. How many NFL teams would be salivating to sign him before the waiver period expired. Yikes!

Only a matter of time before we see fans cheering for Purdy.

It's all hypocritical anyway, since he can't negotiate until after year three, as Phoenix pointed out.

But even so, unless he's putting up elite numbers, no one is going to pay him elite money—ESPECIALLY since he's proving that Jimmy's "just wins" has more to do with Kyle Shanahan than many around here thought. If he starts the next two years years, he's obviously getting starter money, but if he plays as he has been, he's not going to be getting trend setting money, nor should he, and going from making 900-something thousand, I don't think he'd cry making low end to mid range starter money.

Trey Lance is still an obstacle to him getting top dollar, and he'll have to successfully beat him off in camp going forward (something some have been trying to do to Jimmy for years).

Just watching Brock being good since the Miami game is fun. He's running Shanny's playbook very well imo.

Iowa State was his college, but he is from Arizona—you know, where the Super Bowl will be held in less than 2 months…🍿

There's been lots of local news reports on him. He grew up in Gilbert, went to Perry High where former 49er Adam Snyder coaches the OL. He wasn't the most highly recruited QB compared to other guys coming out around the same time but thus far he seems to be the most poised for success. Coming out of high school he was greatly overshadowed by QB's like Kedon Slovis, Spencer Rattler, Jack Plummer, Tyler Shough and others but he had tremendous success, basically carrying Perry with a so-so football program, to the state championship game where they nearly upset perennial super team Chandler.

But isn't everything that comes out of Arizona good? Just asking

And then we get mocked for saying an elite QB steps out of the progression and throws to the open guy for a big play, while terms like "red lighted" are used in condescending posts about how the lack of attacking spirit on the offense is on Shanahan.

It's early, but I really hope Purdy is the real deal. Because it seems he has ice in his veins.

Ice in the veins, 🔥 in the pants :p

Purdy won't have to beat Lance off in training camp if he keeps going the way he is. He already has the starter's job and will retain it until he loses his mojo.

Purdy is NFL ready right now. Trey is not. Kyle is not going to give him another chance to start and waste the talent on the roster in the hope he becomes NFL ready in a couple of games or half a season.

If you look who is the most efficient QB on the team it is still JG. He is 2nd most efficient behind Mahomes. If you go of the last hundred plays for QBs in the league then it is JG, Mahomes and Purdy. This is in the league. Trey does not even rank. He has barely a 50% completion rate in 3 and a 1/4 games. He loses more than he wins. While JG is more efficient Purdy is more explosive over 10 yards which opens up a rush to the end zone, of schedule plays and more boot legs. Trey can only offer some longer passes but is less accurate than Purdy and thus will complete less longer passes. This results in more yardage per game to Purdy. No way in Hades Trey walks into the starter's role next season unless Purdy completely flops and all the signs are saying he won't.

So Tom does make a pretty woman.

Say Demeco becomes a HC next year (happening) and it's a team that has a ton of picks…do you trade him Lance and keep Purdy if BCB wins it all???

🔘 Yes
🔘 No
