That being said, if Brock does continue to play like he has so far against Miami and Tampa Bay, then even if Jimmy does come back and can play, I'm not sure that you pull Brock. Brock has looked great in those 2 games, and it will certainly be good enough to win, even in the post-season.

Well his Pro-Bowl level squad wont be complete tomorrow without Deebo. So while the skill level is still very high across the board, we'll see how teams may focus on CMac a little more and what Shanny & Purdy can do about it.
Agree in the lack of a need to anoint.
But I think we can say @ the very least that we have a backup-worthy QB.

I wrote about Brock Purdy. Something that's stood out in 2 games is that he's looking for the home run against the blitz. That's opening up the field both in the passing and running game. Defenses have to honor the entire field, which will make life easier on everybody https://t.co/UtO1bgr0aB

I have seen a light turn on in shanny with purdy that I haven't seen with Jimmy or Lance or any other qb.
The play-calling hasn't been different. The way the QB is executing those plays and how they've played when pressured imo has been different. Brock is moving/feeling pressure much better than Jimmy, which is creating positive outcomes.

Nah. Cannot be true. I was told by a highly reputable source on the WZ last night that it was the run game that opened up those deep shots.

Exactly. Brock is just more aggressive than jimmy and seeks the biggest chunk plays before short/check downs (given the play isn't designed to be short). It's the same plays - just different skill players are being targeted and Purdy has made the tough throws.

it was second down and goal - right before halftime. He threads it beautifully.

I don't see much difference in the type of plays being called. It's not like when Jimmy was in, all five routes were short. I don't think Purdy is hitting any deep Posts anytime soon, but his willingness to target 1v1s up the sideline is allowing some plays to be made that weren't given a chance in the past.

It was so good the 49ers called the exact same play again. Purdy threw it sooner and it was a touchdown.

To me, those are the kind of throws we have been missing from a QB for as long as I can remember, literally. We never seem to make those tough small window throws or even attempt them - with any QB we've had the last 20 years. It's beautiful 😍
