The larger point is that Mullens looked great at first, but in time, he showed the flaws that dictated why he is a QB2, QB3 in this league.
Purdy looked FANTASTIC against the Buccaneers, who are a top 10 defense. He definitely inspired a lot of hope that this season isn't lost.

It's more that people are crowning and anointing him as a franchise QB that's going to lead us to a Super Bowl after one game. Which is fine, because that's the fun part of being a fan, but "just sayin'."

Purdy has four regular season games and at least one playoff game to show what he's got. That's going to be exciting to tune in and see for the next month.

I wonder if anyone has thought about Drew Brees comparisons. Oddly, his scouting report questioned his size, arm strength, and deep accuracy. Though he was ranked highly overall in terms of prospect.

I see the reasoning for why people downgrade a short QB, but I find that short QB's have just adapted to their height and it's not an issue if they can make it to the NFL.
I think the fact that he played in a spread offense in college, side-armed his deep balls, and didn't have great deep accuracy hurt him from going higher in the draft.

Looking at the old scouting reports though, those were the questions, but they were right on about his strengths being his accuracy, ability to read defenses, elusive in sliding around the pocket, strong leader.

I think Brees would be a good comparison for playstyle.

A few inches taller and bigger and he could go in the 1st round. His College tape and highlights are excellent. He's hitting throws all over the field. You see reading the field well, making the right decision, getting the ball out quick, throwing an accurate ball. The exact same things he does for us.

I watched all Mullins' games. He didn't play like Purdy at all. Although he also won his first few games but you can tell he's absolutely limited talent wise while Purdy, with his off schedule plays and even when getting hit and knowing that he's going to get hit he's still throwing touchdowns and making big time plays.

yeah nick mullens could be limited but he was also throwing it to a rookie aiyuk, trent taylor, kendrick bourne, jordan reed and jerrick mckinnon....

He also threw it to the defense too
Purdy is 6'1. That's not outrageously short or anything

The only comp I can think of being a good comparison is Brady. I'm not saying he will anywhere near as good as Brady, he just reminds me of a young Brady.

his composure, his confidence, his competitiveness, the way he attacks the defense. The way he was prepared and seized an unlikely opportunity (like brady). Both had really good defenses early in their career. Purdy has a much better offensive skill group than brady did though.
they play the game similar too with the whole chess match and attacking defenses.

Who knows what will happen over the next few weeks, but it's fun to be a 49ers fan right now! Hopefully we are all celebrating ar the end of the year!

Yeah I'll disagree there. Brady is damn near 6-6 and like 230lbs. His arm talent is much much better.

Hard to comp Brock to anyone after just two games. Outside of Brock and his ability to be ready, this shows how good our coaching staff and personnel around the QB is.

Yeah gonna fun to watch the outcome of all it!

I was just saying his traits and approach to the game reminds me of Brady, not necessarily how he looks playing.

i hope he drops a fifty burger on Carroll like he did to us with Harbaugh (nearly did).

THIS

Im still sour over that 42-13 game FUK the seahawks

You like that?! You like that?!

Matt Schaub == Jimmy

Cousins has no mobility, he's a sitting duck in the pocket. We'll get to see purdy in his first primetime game.
