QB Brock Purdy Thread

The process of giving Brock Purdy a better fastball started with the quarterback encircled by 3-D motion capture cameras, which track and lay out every aspect of his throwing motion. Here is what the cameras found:

He created too much elbow extension and elbow flexion as he brought his arm up.

• He needed to settle into a better pre-pass stance, which involved dropping his hips and engaging his glute muscles.

• He was not drawing nearly enough from his hip muscles on the throw.

• His backstroke was elongated.

• His front arm had too much movement and was not connected to the throw.

"This was one of the largest measurable increases in performance that we've ever seen," says Will Hewlett, the guru, and a house expert of QB Collective (an expansive think tank founded by a former NFL player-turned-agent, Richmond Flowers, with connections to NFL coaches like Mike McDaniel, Matt LaFleur, Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay). During the draft process, Hewlett says he added roughly 5 mph to Purdy's pass, which, had the quarterback been a baseball player, could have easily triggered an investigation for performance-enhancing drug use. "It got to the point where NFL organizations said, What on Earth did you do?"

With our skill players, if Brock has a great season and continues what he did last year - he actually has a real chance of winning it. It typically goes to someone who bursts onto the scene. Personally, it should probably go to Mahomes every year but we know how the media is. They find the new comer who bursts on the scene. I might take the bet

longshot but at least there is some rationale to it

Agreed, if the 9ers have a good season his odds are higher than 2.5% which means ROI is positive.

Pitts is never an easy place to get a W. I don't care how good or bad the Steelers are in any given season, they can embarrass any team on any Sunday. The one thing that can be said about them is, they do sometimes lay eggs on opening day, but I wouldn't count on that with our luck. I just hope the Niners get the win and leave Pitts healthy.

FYI. I mean to say "QBs second year* in kyles system tend to have an explosion in their production". Lol the only one that did was jimmy, unfortunately. It's not a bad trade - it's low odds no matter what but there is a real chance he shocks everyone continues his burst onto the scene, has all the weapons and coaching to pull it off.

I like Tomlin, he's a really good coach. I just like our matchup. QBs like Pickett are the type our defense feasts on.

overall, I just want the want the win and no injuries. I feel like if we come out and get a statement win on the road, it'll set the precedent for our season. Get us off to a hot start. I think our team understands the sense of urgency.

We just need to have our heads on right. Disciplined and focused. If we do that, there is no reason we shouldn't win. We were ridiculously indisciplined in the bears game, it was humiliating. I'm optimistic it won't happen again.

"His arm strength ". Everyone was gushy about Kap's arm..but did we win the SB? Lol. He sure liked to kiss his bicep a lot but didn't get us the trophy. Lol. Montana didn't have a Kap arm. What is with the arm thing? Is this not an arm?

An elite arm means you can afford to be a tick late. This is extremely valuable, as you can imagine. Now, the choice of having an incredible arm and being dumb vs a mediocre arm and smart, I'll take the smart guy everytime.

Then you have guys like mahomes that have it all :(
Brock doesn't have a mediocre arm, he has an above average velocity on his throws, Kaps was 59 MPH and Brock's us 56 MPH (if it hasn't improved). This is such a ridiculous discussion that Brock's arm isn't good. Lmao it's just not a cannon, big deal?

Wow

Just raw eyes, that was almost a 60 yard Lazer throw. Not much arc to that throw. Holy !

Agree 💯%, and even more remarkable is that he picked up Kyle's complicated offense in less than a year with hardly any reps. Those are indications of a processor that is once in a generation level. He is just so quick with his reads. Add in the Drew Brees accuracy and Kyle Shanahan's ability to draft running backs, and Purdy will never have to shoulder the offense 💯% on his back. He'll always have help on a bad day. Add in his mobility (better than Jimmy, and as good as Trey, in a sense) and accuracy while moving (the dropped Aiyuk pass in the end zone), he's a born playmaker. We will know this year if he's truly a Franchise QB, but he's well on his way there if last years stats and results are any indication.

Hahah I love how you're always so optimistic both QBs.(not being sarcastic).

i really do think Brock has some elite processing and I love how he guns it in a split second - he made some really nice tight window throws and I think its one of the main reasons he has been so good in the redzone, hes very accurate, processed really well, and has the confidence to sling it into tight windows. When it comes to his athleticism, he seems to be quicker/better burst than Lance in short areas but Lance had the bigger play ability.

it's similar to how Lance has the better big play ability with his arm over Purdy but Brock has the advantage in the short and intermediate game.

of course this is without seeing much of lance, and Trey has improved his game quite a bit since last time we saw him, so who knows how true that really is anymore.

im not saying lance doesn't have the intangibles, because we really haven't seen enough of him yet to determine that, but I think Brock has displayed them in every game he's played.

Brock is why I anticipate we will get off to a quick start. Couple his ability to process and attack with CMC and I don't see why we won't get off to a great start. I also think our offense is going to be more dynamic because of TDP/Mason - they seem to have upped their game with the pass catching.I think it's going to be huge when CMC is out, that our offense won't have to change much and still have that dynamic RB threat all over the field.

i really feel like we are about to see an all time great niners squad, if we stay healthy. Soooo many Weapons on offense, defense, AND Special Teams. We have phenomenal coaching (I think wilks experience and Wisdom is going to benefit kyle) and I think the best depth we've had as a whole since kyle got here.

I really like our chances this year. I feel like this is going to be the best squad we've had since 1994

lets hope so, we were just as stacked last year but our QB spot was stretched to the breaking point
