Bosa obviously holding out to tilt the competition.

Wait I thought we were trading Bosa for Burrow!!! WTF happen with that…..oh wait nevermind that was my dream yesterday.

last year in camp they called Brocky "Baby Bosa" because of his quads, this was before he emerged as Big Cock Brock

exactly! Brocky is taking his reps against the best Defense in the league, while the other QBs are facing scrubs... can't compare the two

And Trey was doing just that last yr and people had zero issues crapping on him all though camp.

He's had back to back days banging footballs off defenders chests. It's rust or whatever, but don't tell me it's just practice. None of you were acting like that when Lance was doing it this time last season.

and no he's not the only 49er facing the first string D. He doesn't practice every day, so both lance and Sam get snaps vs the first string D.

Webzone: "Purdy was awful today and he's falling apart. Need to find a new QB."

Make it make sense

It doesn't, we have a stupid subset of fans who pick players they like and dislike, it's f**kin weird

Because there's context that some don't like to discuss. Multiple dropped INTs and would be sacks that they played out regardless.

No one should make conclusions on any of it…but let's put the same time of criticism and energy towards QB1 that we do for other QBs. If you're handing the keys to him then let's see you play like the stud everyone thinks you are.

That probably has at least a little to do with the fact that Brock has played well when it counts, and he's a week removed from being cleared from a major injury to his throwing arm.

They're not starting from the same baseline!

Guess the bold didn't apply to the start of the 2022 season.

hah i wouldn't call our backups 'scrubs' but point taken. i'm sure if purdy was regularly going up against the 2's and 3's he'd be carving them up. last time i checked, warner, and greenlaw are pretty good. they are going to win their battles vs purdy from time to time

Brock's showing last year is why he is getting the benefit of the doubt. Think of it like a boxing match where a tie goes to the holder.

If Trey had won 8 games including 2 playoff games he would be getting the benefit of the doubt or if Brock had performed poorly last year but also injured his elbow a) QB1 would be an open competition and b) there would be a lot less leeway (none?) for Purdy.

The fact is unless Brock looks awful in camp (and it's still early but that certainly doesn't seem to be the case) he's going to start week 1.

If Brock doesn't deliver on the field in the regular season then Kyle will pull the trigger - the expectations on the team are too high not to.

Right. I give Brock the benefit of the doubt because when he's had opportunities, he's produced at a very high level.

the other, in four starts, managed to be considered a top 3 pick to the trade value of maybe a 3-5th rounder.

if Brock's healthy, I'd rather start him until he proves me wrong before considering anyone else on the roster.

We know Cohn. He will say opposite just to get the clicks. I did enjoy his beef with Kinlaw last year and how he needed to go into Lynch's office. I think he needs to pick on another volatile player and call them out face to face.

Again, There is no, all 11, '1st string defense' out there. All the reporters and content creators have said multiple times that individual players are moving in and out of both the offense and defense. Not a 'hater', but there is no reason to acknowledge anything.

It's very hard to say who is going vs who out there right now. The team alternates players.

That's why you see Brandon Allen throwing to Aiyuk while running the 3rd team sometimes. Warner and Greenlaw have been out there with the 2nd team and Bosa is obviously not out there with the starters and Ward has sat out some practices as well.

The teams are based on the OL from my understanding and the DL but otherwise mixed up.

So yes Brock is going vs the top unit more than the other guys but he's also one of the few who gets CMC and the top OL and skill position players to go with it.

End of the day this is where I'm at.

I would love to have a QB like Mahomes who can execute the system and make crazy superhuman plays even when the defense defends the playcall well.

However you can't expect to have a unicorn QB like that so what we need is a QB who can run Kyle's offense the way it's drawn up. Brock did that very well last season AND he made some nice plays on top of it to avoid pressure. It wasn't all rainbows and sunshine but he was a rookie. He can get better. If he's back to the guy we saw last year then I'm not going to worry about what happens down the road if we don't have the same talent around him. It's something worth thinking about...but while the guys are here we need a QB who can use them to the best ability of the offense.

Now if Trey is taking steps to get to Brock's level of execution of the offense while having the big body, big arm that he posses...that's something to think about for sure and last few days Trey is trending in the right direction but he's gotta keep stacking the good days.

End of the day I just want to see this team win the SB. Whether it's Brock, Trey or even Sam starting I'll be thrilled with it. My preference would be Brock or Trey because they're under contract beyond this season but if Sam suddenly puts it together then let's do this.

This is where I am at too, though I have less faith in Sam than some folks do.

The "if he was on a different team he wouldn't be as good" thing is so stupid.

He IS on this team. Why would I care how he plays on another team? If he's able to play at a top tier level here and execute this offense to a high level then I don't give a flying fork that he wouldn't be successful in say the Chargers offense.

And captvg is 100% correct. The same things were said about Brady in his career. Hell they were said about him late in his career and people claimed if he didn't have Belichick he wouldn't be anything special. Ooops.

You might not be as old as I am and don't remember, but the same kinds of things were said about Montana as well. Too small, average athleticism, average arm, etc...
