He IS on this team. Why would I care how he plays on another team? If he's able to play at a top tier level here and execute this offense to a high level then I don't give a flying fork that he wouldn't be successful in say the Chargers offense.

And captvg is 100% correct. The same things were said about Brady in his career. Hell they were said about him late in his career and people claimed if he didn't have Belichick he wouldn't be anything special. Ooops.

Well to be fair, Brady did cherry pick a team with elite talent pretty much everywhere outside of QB, lol. Team was absolutely stacked in '20.

Would have been way more telling if he went to a team like the Raiders.

Agree with your point in Brock's context regardless.

I think the how would he look elsewhere, comes into play when it gets to the time of the 2nd contract. We will have to really evaluate, the player we have. KS, and all this talent, won't be around forever. If you look at TB, they said he lost his ability to push the ball downfield toward the end in NE, the reality is that roster had no deep threats, he got to Tampa, and looked rejuvenated, once he got into the system.

I agree, but we have two full seasons to get an answer there. QBs can be evaluated as individuals whether they are surrounded by great talent like ours are now, or not. It's also very hard to find great QBs so hopefully the team doesn't let unrealistic fan expectations have any impact on what we do.
Brock Purdy got the Jimmy G tendencies n traits of throwing pick six's INT's and fumbles in practice not a good sign we wanted Jimmy G gone but seems to be here still when is the rust gonna wear out since he played in January

Any chance that Ferrell's just here as a Raider spy?

Yeah it is. Particularly when that same play, caused the injury which was very significant, that he just got back from.

Right. Can't swat the throwing arm of a QB wearing a no contact jersey. There was a clip of Steelers camp where the DE beat the OT, did a phantom swipe at Kenny Pickett. That's what Ferrell should be doing, fake swiping. No contact means, you guessed it, no contact.

It's all about the "rules of engagement" since there's an extremely fine line lost in a cloud of grey area between tipping a pass and knocking it out of a QB's hand with "no contact."

If their jerseys, hands, skin, etc., never touch, it's still "no contact",....but I realize that that's a literal definition and not necessarily an on-field one.

If you aren't allowed to swat at ANY balls or thrown passes down at our practices, though, then please let me know. Because I havent followed camps much in recent yrs and wasnt aware of such a thing.

But Faithful6,....you're admitting without admitting that the paranoia of how he got hurt to begin with is the main source of your paranoia. I mean we aren't going to change all of our practice habits forever due to a freak injury to our rookie QB at the end of the year.

That kind of extreme paranoia over injuries won't keep our players any more healthy or anything,....but I can see how it could certainly do more harm than good in not being ready for legit, full contact once the live bullets start flying.

Football's a sport where you want to amp things up as you get closer.

They don't belong in the same breath. Completely different players, so no shot at either guy.

It's absolutely contact. He's still holding the ball. Definite no no in practice.

This

Jimmy was having his best season ever until he got hurt, only to be matched by a 3rd string rookie who arguably outplayed him lol but ya they are identical

WTF!!!

Every reporter except Grant Cohn says Purdy had a good practice.

The WZ front page article says Purdy had a good practice.

The numbers say Purdy had a good practice.

The reps Purdy took say he's the QB1.

Webzone: "Purdy was awful today and he's falling apart. Need to find a new QB."

Make it make sense

Good post, FoNFL. Gotta just tune out the noise, see how the team is trending in 4-5 weeks as we gear for the opener. I am noticing good early vibes on Drake + Kinlaw.
Imagine if people tracked Purdy's reps last training camp. I highly doubt that his 2022 performance would have been projected from those stats.

Well he did beat out the great Nate Sudfeld.

We legitimately almost went into a Super Bowl contending* season with Trey and Nate as our two QBs. Right on the edge of that cliff.

I'll be honest - Trey as QB1, Nate as QB, And a 7th round rookie as QB3 had me really worried last year before camp. I was thrilled when we signed Jimmy.

we had no idea what we were going to get from Trey, and for me personally, I didn't feel like we were going to get much. I didn't like what I was seeing.

Nate Sudfield, enough said. Lol if our starter goes down - that feels like a nick mullens situation all over again.

then Brock, pick 262, seventh round rookie - not very inspiring. I expected it to be a s**t show if he got in.
signing jimmy gave me some relief because we know what he is, which is as worse is an above average QB, everyone else was super unknown.

even when Brock when in, I was like "bad news bears" hahaha. I told myself I'd watch a few drives and see how he looks before turning it off and then I was captivated, very quickly.

We could have easily cut Brock and rolled with two.

Oh well. It didn't happen thankfully.

That god that he impressed so much with his few reps that he made kyle make a difficult decision. He said they knew after the pre season that they couldn't stash him on the PS. So they had to choose the young talent or sudfield. So far, great choice.

it's how I view lances situation, he just needs to make the most of what he's getting and Kyle will notice. If he noticed Brock when he was getting 2-3 reps a day, he can notice Trey with 8-16 a day - or whatever he is getting on the high end. I think Trey has done a good job so far.
