QB Brock Purdy Thread

I would love to have a QB like Mahomes who can execute the system and make crazy superhuman plays even when the defense defends the playcall well.

However you can't expect to have a unicorn QB like that so what we need is a QB who can run Kyle's offense the way it's drawn up. Brock did that very well last season AND he made some nice plays on top of it to avoid pressure. It wasn't all rainbows and sunshine but he was a rookie. He can get better. If he's back to the guy we saw last year then I'm not going to worry about what happens down the road if we don't have the same talent around him. It's something worth thinking about...but while the guys are here we need a QB who can use them to the best ability of the offense.

Now if Trey is taking steps to get to Brock's level of execution of the offense while having the big body, big arm that he posses...that's something to think about for sure and last few days Trey is trending in the right direction but he's gotta keep stacking the good days.

End of the day I just want to see this team win the SB. Whether it's Brock, Trey or even Sam starting I'll be thrilled with it. My preference would be Brock or Trey because they're under contract beyond this season but if Sam suddenly puts it together then let's do this.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's where I'm at too. Love both players and truthfully hope there's some way we can keep both around for several more years.

Clelin Ferrell hit the ball out of Brocky's hand today ?

CUT HIM

Uh he needs that to happen now. It's going to happen in real games

Yeah, people need to understand that the injury that happened to broke was like 1/10000 chance, per doctors. It had to happen at a specific moment while he was throwing at a specific angle and the pass rusher had a specific angle and speed.
i understand we don't want him getting hurt but if he can experience those situations now, it'll better prepare him for the season.

don't blame Ferrell - blame whatever bunk as lineman let him through.

Lol yeah I would bet my house that you wouldn't feel that way if Purdy got re-injured.

I wouldn't be happy if any of the players get hurt.

but if Ferrell did nothing wrong, no reason to blame him. Went for a strip sack.

Serious question - is that allowed in camp? I know you can't tackle people but can you strip sack?

That's actually a pretty good question and honestly I'm not sure. But I do think it's not allowed on a guy who just got surgery from getting the injury in exactly that way. I'd bet money he got an earful today for it

The no contact jersey means no contact. It's not a no tackle jersey.
Idk if hitting a ball out of the hand is contact tho. I'd need an insanely good HD clip for that.

Any chance that Ferrell's just here as a Raider spy?

Yeah it is. Particularly when that same play, caused the injury which was very significant, that he just got back from.

Right. Can't swat the throwing arm of a QB wearing a no contact jersey. There was a clip of Steelers camp where the DE beat the OT, did a phantom swipe at Kenny Pickett. That's what Ferrell should be doing, fake swiping. No contact means, you guessed it, no contact.

This is the play. Watch the DE. I saw this clip and some Steeler fan said (paraphrased) "he's like Lamar". Then someone else said, nah, strip sack.

Hoping Ferrell got chewed out after

Wow, we got another coach in the league who's a hater. I wonder who that is...

Dude clearly hasn't seen all of what Purdy can do. He also did what he did as a ROOKIE. Sounds like a butthurt coach who Brock beat up on last year.

I guess you're referring to some "anonymous" offensive coach in the league who spoke to the Athletic. Claimed that Brock on any other team would've lost more than half the games he played. I wish these guys actually had the cajones to reveal their identity when they declare stuff like this instead of being some anonymous prick. Of course he could be right but there's actually no way to prove that. Oh BTW Mike Sando goes back years starting out as a reporter for the seahags. He's always coming up with crap trying to tweak the Niners and/or Niner fans.

How about opposing coaches worry about their team and their players? Win some games where you're at with your guy instead of trash talking our guy. Where the hell do they get these guys from?

I wouldn't worry about it. Many said the same thing about Brady in 2002. Nobody knows anything. That's why they play the games.

Bad example. I don't see a non-contact jersey; his jersey look the same as everyone else's
The "if he was on a different team he wouldn't be as good" thing is so stupid.

He IS on this team. Why would I care how he plays on another team? If he's able to play at a top tier level here and execute this offense to a high level then I don't give a flying fork that he wouldn't be successful in say the Chargers offense.

And captvg is 100% correct. The same things were said about Brady in his career. Hell they were said about him late in his career and people claimed if he didn't have Belichick he wouldn't be anything special. Ooops.

Well said. Great point about Brady too.

Well to be fair, Brady did cherry pick a team with elite talent pretty much everywhere outside of QB, lol. Team was absolutely stacked in '20.

Would have been way more telling if he went to a team like the Raiders.

Agree with your point in Brock's context regardless.
