Think you're right 6. Man that's sad, for those of us who got to see Montana and Young, I truly think it's all a part of why the standards and expectations are so high of that position for a lot of 49er fans

Yeah, the last 20+ years have blown. There is a huge amount of the fan base, approximately 32 or so and under that the best qb we've ever seen wear this uniform was Jimmy.

unless you started watching 49ers football at such a young age - you maybe saw Jeff Garcia and then just horrible after that to above average, nothing grest.

thats why I'm so excited about Purdy, the way he played last season was probably the best football from a QB that we've had since young. He really showed a lot, like a lot, and I want to see if it was real or not. We have zero reason to think it wasn't real, but I understand the hesitation.

if Brock is the real deal, we are going to have a great 10-15 year run. 😍😍🤘

I think Brock has a command/leadership that few players have. He doesn't just go run a play, he wants to win every play. Sounds simple but a lot of guys just "run what the coaches call" and then the best ones have this intensity to where they want to win every single down. Get the troops in order and focused.

thays why when a position group on offense isn't focused or not playing well, I place a small blame of it in the QB for not getting those guys straight and focused. To me that usually means a lack of leadership - although it can come from other roles like a HC but I think every thing on offense starts with great leadership from a QB. That gets guys amped up and focused, you get far less of those sloppy unfocused performances. At least in my opinion.

so when someone says "the o line played bad, WR played bad etc" I look at it like "why wasn't the qb getting those guys focused?

it's not ALWAYS on them, I get that. But I think a lot of the time that just shows lack of leadership from the QB. An example where it wasn't like that was mahommes against the Bucs. I don't blame that in Mahomes cause he was super into it and trying so hard, but his guys let him down.

You mean, "Hey H look it's John Candy". Yes I hope that's the type he becomes I miss the Montana Young days. The last few have been like the Brody Deberg years. Brody was Jimmy of recent days. Lol. Yes I've been a Niners fan since I could walk.

Yeah, you have to be a leader of men. You have to read the guys and know how to act with them to get them where you need them. You don't just go "well he didn't play well" - well what the hell did you do to get that person where you needed him? You're the CEO out there, get everyone straight.

go ahead, run crappy routes with Brady, manning, Rodgers etc. they'll tear your ass apart and tell you to get it together or get off the field.

im not saying Brock is like those guys, but I loved it when Trent Williams was like "he's out there telling us to shut the Eff up and focus" hahaha that's awesome. I think a lot of it is up to a QB to know his guys and know how they tick, how to get 'em ticking. You're much more than just the guy who plays quarterback, a lot of things on and off the field. Sometimes even a therapist. Lol

💯 that's exactly what a leader does. When I watch Brock I see him thinking about every play. He has a great head on his shoulders and an hoping he keeps growing. If he does we'll have a great shot at number 6.i have not seen the confidence and self awareness since the great ones. He has a way to go but if his trajectory keeps going he will be. Let's 🙏 he does. I would love to see the next great QB for SF soon so I don't have to keep watching the Superbowl years in the past. I don't watch the Ravens Superbowl disaster or the Quiefs win, just the Niners wins. Brings me back to my youth and alot of drunken nights lol.

Yes sir, he seems to just have that intensity and focus to win every down. He also is humble enough to analyze it all to see what went wrong and immediately wants to fix it, that takes a lot of confidence and humility. I honestly love everything about the kid, he has all the "intangibles" so far.

the way he waits for all the o line guys after a PAT to high five then, after EVERY touchdown. He's selfless but serious. You can also tell he's super prepared and driven, that lights a fire under guys too. Shows them that they need to be ready or they'll look like a fool.

i just hope he can keep putting it on the field but this guy is so driven, people can study all the film they want - you think he isn't studying his film? Looking for his mistakes and flaws so he can adjust them? Lol this kids been running programs since he was 14, he knows what it's like to be the guy everyone relies on and counts on, he won't let us down. Just need him healthy and I think we are in business.

"I know the timing of where things are supposed to be and what you're looking at, and when you're throwing the ball," Romo said at the American Century Championship golf tournament. "A tenth of a second feels like a minute to me when I'm watching. … These little tenths of seconds are the difference and people either have spacial awareness — some people call it instincts. I call it the ability to use leverage against the opposing player. And then obviously your ability to react and use spacial awareness within that.

"And he has that. I saw it right away."
I think so many posters in this thread already came up with this theory long before Romo came up with his.

Romo didn't "just" come up with this "theory." He was asked about it at the American Century... which was last week LOL.

Ahhhh. The one guy I'll utilize my mute button for.
Is this dude gonna be any good again or not??

Have over half the team elected and none of them attend the game cuz they're busy. 👍
Wonder if he'll start training camp on PUP

agree with both of you, but that's what 4 yrs starting in the Big 10 (oops, big 12) does for a QB. Doesn't hurt , also, that he was Arizona #1 HS football player of the yr prior to going to Iowa State. Big time competition, and 4 yrs worth of starting = Brock. IIRC , he also turned down a walk-on offer from ALA, so he could go to big time conference and have a real good chance of starting right out of HS. He's got the brains, the muscle, the awareness (as in when OL has broken down or someone missed a blitzer)...ok, call it a 7th sense...but whatever, he has it... Put him together with a great Offensive coach/HC, and a schid load of talent, and you not only get Brock but Brock with all the items needed to win it all. Only a damn freak UCL injury kept him and the team from winning the NFCCG and then beating the best QB and a great team in the SB.
