QB Brock Purdy Thread

However, as teams got more film on him, things changed up a bit. If you watch the Dallas game, Dallas D was clearly instructed to not read the QB eyes but stay with the play. They almost blew up a Deebo screen in the beginning where Purdy wisely took a sack, and basically just stayed on their men the entire game.

Going to be fascinating to see how this translates into a second year when teams know a lot of Purdy's game is built on defender manipulation and fakes

Purdy's double fake pass to Kittle in Seattle was a thing of beauty, Purdy could very well be a franchise QB, I think this year we need to figure out who it is, Trey or Brock this year, no more QB controversy, I'm so sick of it, I'm tired of hearing we're contenders, but who's the QB, national media is the worst, I get PHI has Jalen Hurts, Mahomes in KC, Burrow in CIN, Allen in BUF, so on and so forth, so sick of it.

Also hate this national media not talking Nick Bosa's extension talks, always about the QBs(Burrow & Herbert), ehh need to stop watching ESPN so much, but nothing good on right now, waiting eagerly for camp to begin.

We need one of them to take the reigns and be a legit top QB. The odds of winning a super bowl without a top QB is minimal - it happens like once every 10 years. I think that If we had better Qb play going back to harbaugh, we would of won a few Super Bowls.

Alex smith was either awful to slightly above average, by far the most conservative QB play I've ever seen. Lol

Kap - I liked him but I never felt like he was elite, outside of his running. I thought he was an average to above average passer - he never really added elements to his passing game. Never really learned to take heat off his passes and his arch's were usually poor. We had a very average pass game and some could be blamed on Greg Roman. Regardless, he never took that next step.

Jimmy - I liked him but we all know he had limitations and injury issues.

over the years we have had some excellent rosters but the QB position always held us back. I'm really hoping Brock continues to build on last years. If he can do that, it's going to be extremely difficult to beat us.

yeah, haha ESPN just let go of some many personalities - some a bit shocking. I go to YouTube and listen to podcasts. Hahah

I hope his QB coach that he's working with Jacksonville starts releasing some updates on how Brock looks. Lol come on, baby!! Need an arm update
Recent interview with Juice: love the bolded. I've been saying that for a while - part of the playing the position are natural instincts. You can't be out there thinking - just reacting.

When I describe Brock to people—and truly, this is the biggest compliment that I could ever receive—I say, 'He's a football player,'" Juszczyk told Eisen. "The guy has just played a lot of ball. He started since he was a freshman at Iowa State, so he played a lot of games. When you're playing that position, especially a quarterback, you just need those reps. You need those live reps, those live bullets, and just certain little things, timing things, natural reactions, they just get ingrained in your head, and you're just not thinking as much out there. You're just reacting.

"And I felt like that's what he was doing, is he was just going out there, and he was reacting. He didn't have to think about it as much. It sounds so much easier than what it really is—to have the confidence to do that as the last pick of the draft, rookie, you're in the first year in this offense, to have the trust in Kyle to [say], 'All right, this is what Kyle told me to do during the week when we did the install. I'm just going to go do that, and I'm going to react. I'm not going to overthink it.' And I felt like that's what he really did. He was so well prepared that he didn't have to overthink things, and he really just ran the offense. He didn't try to do too much. He trusted in the playmakers that he had. He's got a plethora of weapons in our offense, and he didn't try to take on too much. He just went out there, and he reacted."
There is a cool story about another QB taken at "Mr. Irrelevant - Chad Kelly". I remember when he was taken because he is Jim Kelly's nephew. He was picked late cause of off the field issues.

its crazy cause he would probably of got some of the stuff brock set, if he didn't get in so much off the field trouble. For example, Brock has a few jerseys in canton etc.

I didn't realize Kelly is playing in canada and helped them win a chip because another ex 49er McLeod Bethel-Thompson got hurt in the championship game and Kelly filled in. Hope he gets another chance in the pros, he's only 29.

Thought this was a cool story that's tied to 2 49ers QBs.

nobody take this the wrong way, but this is high level game managing just the bold part
sometimes it isn't that hard, you got all these incredible weapons, just put it on em, he absolutely was putting it on ppl
This surprised me too. Lol spread the ball around Purdy! Lol

it also makes sense that Lance has more cause he hasn't played with CMC and I think kittle missed some time when Lance was starting.

Yeah, part of being a high level QB is being able to manage the game. To be elite you need to be able to elevate those guys and create plays when things are going necessarily to plan, IMO.

so when I look at someone like darnold, I see him as able to manage the game, but if things get hard and we are struggling - I don't see him elevating the team to overcome it. Where as with Brock, I think he has that potential and showcased it at different points last season. Now it's a matter of consistency.
