You don't have to convince me. Obviously read a ton of your posts, and you mine, in these circular arguments we're all having here, lol. Opinions and philosophies are going to differ but damn near everyone has the same goal in mind.

Why is it weird, his rookie contract is almost up and Purdy is the QB1. Most likely outcome is that Trey Lance matures on another team.,

Well its how you're reading what I said - I'll rephrase, I don't think he will be a great qb in this league in general. I don't think he will be a top 5 guy, regardless of whichever team he is on. I think he will be a dak prescott type guy. Top 8-12 player who is more of a game manager than an elite playmaker. I think he needs about two seasons of play to come close to that kind of play too. I think he's too raw to try and start and hope to compete for a chip with him. So by the time he is in that dak type range, the team will have aged and all the expensive contracts will be at their peak. Then we will have to pay Lance some ludicrous amount that will cripple us.

i also think Purdy showed some special abilities. I'd much rather Rock with the guy who we KNOW we can compete for a chip with. Going into his second year (usually the largest jump in play happens), and a super super cheap contract over the next three seasons.

it's ideal as long as Brock heals right and continues his level of play or near it.

You just know the scumbag DEs of the NFL are going to target Brocks' arm..

Im all for the best qb that will help this team win. I've always had my doubts about Lance. All I've ever wanted was.for him to prove me wrong with his play on the field and team results. I'm still waiting.

We as fans like to think that's the rub, but the FO doesn't seem to think that way. They are way more intrigued by Brock (and Darnold and dudes in the draft it seems) than they are with Trey right now. It may not work out with Brock, but it's still the perfect situation to try to get something for Trey if they're not sure he can beat Darnold out

Because on this team, with Kyle as his coach, Trey has the best chance at success that he'll have anywhere in the league.

I understand the enthusiasm for Brock but I can't understand the disdain for Trey. How can anyone have a legitimate opinion on him given the small sample size. Everyone, including the Niners knew he was raw and would need a season or two to really develop. Unfortunately he was injured and never got much playing time. Judging him base don what we've seen so far is like seeing a star athlete in a cameo roll in a movie and declaring he sucks as an actor.

I don't know if Trey will ever be the guy they hoped for but after spending that much draft capital on him I sure as heck want to find out before I trade him or release him. The worst case scenario would be seeing him go to Seattle or the Rams and end up being a good QB that we had to face every year.
