9ers finally have themselves a franchise QB? Let's hope so.

I'm super pumped for the new season.

but I get it the eagles put a freaking statue up for Foles after winning 6 games with better stats. He did however not get hurt and actually won a SB…so that makes sense.

like I said this fan base is so thirsty for a good QB. Same s**t happened with Jimmy in 2017. Hope this time it goes better…

You sound upset about Brock's ascent. Just enjoy it for what it is! If he doesn't work out, we'll figure something else out

Not upset at all..I just think it's all a bit premature. We're talking about trading a 22yr old QB after 4 "starts" because of it…Stinks of the Jimmy G situation….Passing on loads of higher end talent because of him.

I need a full season of top end play to make him that guy. That's all.

yeah seems like we're always trying to figure it out lol

Hard not to show appreciation for someone who went 8-0, and won two games in the playoffs that also looked the part. How is that "jumping the gun hard?" Especially when there is no one else on the roster worth getting excited about, with the most accomplished from another team?

7-1*

I hope you all are right about him, but we all saw the fanatical cult-like following that Jimmy got here after just 5 games and how that ultimately played out. It makes sense to pump the brakes a little, though I'm sure many of you have found ways to internally rationalize how it's different this time.

I agree 100%. Everyone is so quick to praise players and so quick to jump on them if they don't produce right away. What ever happened t letting a young, inexperienced palyer develop before expecting him to be a star. Brock certainly looked good in his time as the starter but it was still only about 1/3 of the season. Calling him a franchise QB at this point is laughable. Even if he comes back and plays well we have seen enough to know he has some deficiencies. He doesn't have a really strong arm and he's not super mobile. He ri=uns bette rthan Jimmy (who doesn't) but he's not going to pick up big yardage with his legs.

He can be good enough to win with but I would hold off on declaring that he's a franchise QB. We've already seen him get injured so we need to see if he's going to be like JG where he plays well in stretches and then gets hurt again.
I wasn't surprised to see the ovation Purdy got at the baseball game last night. The fans remember what he did down the stretch last season and they wish him well in his recovery. Besides, what else do they have to cheer about at Giants games this season.

I understand the skepticism about crowning him, he still needs to prove it, and I think Purdy will have some growing pains like everyone does.

with that said, I don't think it's comparable to what Jimmy did. Two very different situations and won in very different ways. At least Purdy played really well in the playoffs (even set some records). Purdy was also playing within Kyles system, Jimmy was here for like a month and was essentially playing backyard ball.

is there a risk here? Of course. I think it's one worth taking though. I believe it's much less risky than forcing Trey in the lineup and hoping he figures the game out sooner than later.

Thank you!

It's funny the same people that told me Lance can't play year 1 because he needs to "develop" are the same ones that want to throw him in the trash after 4 random games. They talked about Rogers, young, Montana and all the others who didn't play right off the bat and some that didn't look like all-stars from day 1… "he needs to sit the bench and learn" lol what a bunch of bull s**t from those "fans"

They never wanted him to play and never supported him from day 1. They were so butt hurt over Jimmy, that they used Lance as their whipping boy and anyone who supported him. They're hypocrites at the highest degree. Now we're doing the same s**t with Brock that we did with Jimmy…competition? No way. Brock should be the starter without question.
7 games =franchise QB in their eyes…Sam Darnold should compete though! We haven't seen enough of him lol. GTFO.

let's keep it real, unless Lance came out like Mahomes there was no situation where they would have supported him. We need to quit all the fluff s**t and realize so long as Lance doesn't step on the field they're happy. What's even worse is Lance is the poster child of what you want as far as intangibles go. Fans suck sometimes and we got a bunch of horrible ones here imo

You only count the eagles game and take away the Dolphins game if you want to diminish him

Brock played eight games and won all of them and played at an extremely high level," Shanahan said

Or I'm going by the official record rather than what just sounds the best.

You're going by what sounds best to you. Thankfully our coach uses common sense

What I was surprised at was that he didn't have a sling, a brace or no problems raising his arm and giving high fives.
Anyone that's has shoulder surgery or others on their arms know it takes months to mobility back. Granted this was a "brace" procedure with a parallel line on the UC, but if he was hurting or in pain we would see a robo arm on him.
I'm hoping we will see vids of him soft tossing soon.

Oh, ok. It's just that typically we refer to a QB's record by their record in starts. I guess we can make a lone exception this one time for Brock to avoid generating negative feelings in this thread. Maybe we should go back through every QB's record and arbitrarily adjust it based on how much blame we think they deserve for each W or L.

Your first sentence is all that's needed. They shouldn't be crowning him….and I can't tell you how many times I was told we can't develop a young QB on a Super Bowl roster. Now you're telling me it's okay too? They're not allowed to have ups and downs. Remember.

as far as comparing the Jimmy situation, you're right they're not the same. Jimmy's was vastly harder. We had one of the worst rosters in football on both sides. He wasn't throwing the ball to multiple all-pro receivers. It was Goodwin and two rookies…UDFA Bourne and a 6rd trent Taylor. Don't tell me he wasn't throwing in breaking routes, running bootlegs, play action and dumping off screens to s**tty Carlos Hyde. He most certainly was. He extended plays just like Brock did. He threw a ton of balls that were put in harms way that we were lucky they weren't picked off. Same as Brock. From what I remember Jimmy was amazing under pressure in 2017. s**t was far from consistent after that "small sample size"

so yeah sorry if I'm a bit skeptical about Brock being the next star QB in the league for the next decade right now. I'm not saying he can't be. I need more before I toss all my eggs in one basket. Not sure how many more times SF fans need to get burnt before the understand all of it.
