OT-Nick Zakelj-Fordham, 6th Round 2022 Draft

Hopefully he'll show something. Not sure what their board looked like, but I'd rather the 3rd round pick had been OL and get a RB here. Much more likely that both players make the 46 game day roster and are contributors than the way they did it.

Top 20 RAS out of the 1000 or so guards since the 80s.

would be cool to see who the other 20 guards are ahead of him.

He's a tackle though

Did I miss something on Mack announcing his retirement? Been reading Brunskill moving to C, thus no returning starting Guards on our team, thus these 2 picks to battle last years two picks for the starting and reserve guard spots.

No, it's an assumption. Right now it doesn't look as though Mack has decided so we all assume they are doing a Staley.

He'll take over for McGlinchey next year.
You get into the Adam Peters portion of the draft it's all small school + high RAS

It's like two different drafts.
Always intrigued by these small school kids, just finally fit once let the niners hit on one that'll be an anchor for a decade plus please, both Burford and this kid are intriguing.

I guess we will see where he lines up. Let's hope what he has on paper translates to the football field. In theory he should be a guy that gets to the second level and can pull and lead in space.

I don't know anything about him, at all....like zero......so anything that stands out is a plus to me. A 6th round pick with top 10% mobility in the modern era of football sounds like the correct use of a 6th round pick. Dude might completely suck, like most 6th rounders tend to...but guy sounds mobile enough to at least play special teams.

Pretty much this. 6th round pick is good value of he can be a good backup.
Seems like they're taking two swings, hoping at least one of these OL guys pans out.

He's moving to guard, he even said it.

A pulling guard with a historically rare athletic composite score.

Hard to argue that is not a good risk to take in the 6th round. Let's hope he is epic.

6th round pick, not expecting much. Be a good backup and that's a win.

This man knows.

It was the same with the Broncos. Elway would usually bust on the first couple rounds, then all of a sudden they hit on the later rounds to make up for Elways mishaps, feels eerily similar, though Id argue this FO is a little better in the first few rounds.

WWait this is totally confusing. The guy plays his entire college career at tackle. He takes a bunch of physical tests against other tackles. But then we take the results and compare them to the physical test that guards take. That seems weird. What was his Raz score against other tackles. What would other tackles do when compared against the historical scores of guards. Is this something that we do or just the whole league do stuff like this?
Other then Drake, probably most excited about this kid. I think he can develop into a solid guard if not a pro bowler some day.
