Double Kupp. Just take him out of game. If he has 13 passes and 165 yards by halftime…we screwed up…fix it.
if they run on us up the gut, bring WIDE 9 in closer.
For a change, if we are getting half kilt by somebody or other, then change strategy, and don't need to wait until halftime. Of course halftime is better than no change at all.
Remind STs before each Punt, KO, FG, to keep their heads in the game. No ST screwups!
On O, do NOT forget Kittle, nor Aiyuk, nor Deebo, nor au jus, nor Surefeld. Make sure they all get the ball.
Forget deep passes, Rams won't let them happen. this is all going to be bang bang passes.
Plan on running Elijah 30 times and deebo 10 times. But do not run deebo between tackles.
That leaves 20-25 passes, and make 'em all quick and short, no matter who QB is.
great time to show some trickery on STs. Whether a WISH run instead of punting from our 45 or a triple flea flicker like DET used against GB today, just do it.
Demeco, make sure your guys in DBackfield STAY in PHASE.
DL, As good as you all have played this yr, it is hard to ask you to do more. But maybe could you somehow find one last thrust to get us over the hump…please?
DBs…NO DPIs…NONE. And stay with your danged man…and Double Kupp.
That's it , but feel free to add.
Double Kupp? Nope, but we sure as heck doubled Aaron Donald and he became a NON factor. Brilliant, either Demeco, Kyle or both. And we occasionally were able to double Kupp, but the guy is really tough to handle.
Didn't gash us up the gut runs, but we sure had some odd alignments, one was 3 guys to R of center and one lone DE 5 yds away at "9".
Nobody seemed to gash us badly but 1st half, kyle was still working on "what WOULD " work. Kyle redid game plan for 2nd half and went ALL IN for running the ball.
Didn't forget kittle, but McVay had him doubled all game and he was a force with his blocking…as was au jus. Doubling George just meant Aiyuk, Surefeld, and Deebo were more open, so kittle did his part even with the double.
Deep passes…fuggedaboudit…we didn't need them and quick hitters worked just fine, thank you. All passes were bang bang.
Don't know if we ran Elijah 30 times or not but we gave it a go. Deebo didn't get 10 runs but he got enough. And kyle did run Deebo between tackles a couple times but to no avail. Didn't appear to get the krapt beaten out of him. Good news. Deebo snagged some nice passes tho..
Don't know if we had 20 passes or not but man, Jimmy sure converted on a bunch of third downs, and all at crucial times.
Only trickery on STs was Robbie punting and au jus holding. Man it looked like those guys did this every day all day. Really IMPRESSIVE. Game balls for both.
Trickery instead came courtesy of Deebo's pass for TD to Surefeld, and Rams were caught flat footed. Way to go kyle, deebo, Surefeld.
Meco, your boys stayed IN PHASE and another Game ball to Ambry who was right where he was supposed to be. Also give Ambry credit for slowing down, judging ball perfectly , which was underthrown. He showed tremendous poise, skill, smarts, toughness. Ambry looks to have "arrived" . DBackfield all get game balls. Way to go guys.
DL who played at 130 % all yr, somehow managed to kick it up from 130% to 180%, and just flat azz terrorized Stafford. Nick, Arik, DJ, Ebuk, Key, Street, whoever was in there, they all get game balls. Just amazing DL performance and were hands down best DL in league yesterday. They really helped DBs look like…well, DBs.
Did get one DPI and pretty sure it was Norm, but overall , we stayed out of DPIs all game. And no we didn't double Kupp ,but we sure kept him from having 13 catches and 165 yds by halftime. DL was just awesome harassing Stafford plus what, 3…or 4 sacks?
That was best one half of football seen all year, anywhere, and somehow kyle got it turned around from "stymied" to awesome between halves. That 2nd half may have been one of the best 49er halves of all time, rivaling some of GOAT BW and Joe's /Jerry's/ JT/ Roger Craig's best games.
I like Jimmy at qB, but he does have his ups and downs. Today tho, I never would have started him, with bone chip fracture and torn ligament in thumb. Incredible call by Kyle who KNEW what jimmy could do and went with him as best option. That took big huge BRASS balz…and it was the right move. Unbelievable that our QB with a torn ligament in his throwing hand managed to beat the Rams, winner of the toughest division in NFL.
Great call Kyle, but it was sure a surprise to all but you. I thot JG was there to backup Trey. WRONG. Sofi should be considered a home game for us. Amazing, just flat out amazing, the guts and grit of this team, and its coaches. A tough first half followed by a 2nd half none of us will ever forget. Damn, what a thrill.
