The point is, the guy has no actual responsibility.
People point out when he calls plays because it happens so rarely. Just like with Nagy when people made a big deal of him calling the plays in the 2nd half of a blowout. When teams pass on you for HC jobs year after year, there's usually a good reason for it. There's no more reason to be psyched about Bieniemy then there is to want Pete Carmichael who has been the Saints OC for over a decade, who has called plays sporadically but no one wants him because everyone understands that Sean Payton and Drew Brees are what made that offense work.
What makes Bieniemy a better HC prospect than Carmichael?

"He calls plays, I call plays," Reid told USA TODAY Sports. "Or, 'What do you think here?' 'Okay, go with it. Let's roll.' That's how we go. We check our egos at the door, all the way around. We're trying to win. I have that relationship where it doesn't matter who calls what. If you've got an idea and you're strong about it, let's go with it."
It is Bieniemy's voice that Mahomes hears in his helmet when the plays are relayed from the sideline. Each week, Bieniemy memorizes the play-call sheet and sometimes sending the play to Mahomes involves quickly translating what Reid is thinking as the play-clock ticks.
Explained Bieniemy: "He'll say, 'E.B., give me 34 Webster.' Well, the play might be '34 Webster Read Easy.' So, I've got to call it. Here's the formation: 'It's Trips right. Bunch nasty. F left O. 34 Webster. Read easy.' But the thing is, it's a collaborative effort.

Cool, so he's the Geep Chryst for the Chiefs.
Let me know when he actually runs an NFL offense that isn't loaded with Top 5 talent all over the place and actually has sole playcalling authority because right now, he's just Pete Carmichael with high cholesterol.

From EB'a agent :
"None of the teams called on any of his references last year," Levy said. "Eye-opening for me. I can't tell you who they were told to call, but they didn't call the top-of-the-food-chain guy that they should have been calling."

Not the first time teams interview a black candidate to fulfill a role but have no intention of hiring him.

looool yea you're wrong but can't admit it. It's ok. You don't have to continue arguing and moving goal posts.

Or he's just not a good candidate.

Like I said, what's a meaningful difference between Bieniemy and Pete Carmichael in terms of their coaching?

There are plenty of options - I said he is one of the obvious ones. There are more.
But, in the end - Jed will be dumb to fire Shanahan. You don't fire good coaches. If you got one - you keep him for a long time.

Nah, you've done nothing to support that he's some sort of tremendous candidate. If team after team passes up on you, you just might not be a great candidate. Just like with Vic Fangio. And Fangio at least was an accomplished defensive coordinator for years before he became a HC.
Greg Roman has coordinated some top offenses in the NFL, actually calling the plays himself. What makes Bieniemy a better HC candidate than him? And I don't want any part of Roman either.

I think I have. Mahomes has said that he's closest with EB on the entire team. He has also said he spent most of the time with EB in the offseason after his rookie year when he was preparing to be the starter.
I'm sure a lot of ppl had a hand in developing Mahomes but seems like EB had a big part too. Mahomes has also said that EB developed Kareem Hunt.

Or he's a good candidate but hasn't been hired yet.
To be honest - I'm not a fan of Payton. So, I haven't looked at him or his staff very closely. He makes ridiculous decisions and personally I think he underachieved with Brees - who had proven to be a damn good QB before he went to Saints.

- NFL Pick 'em
I've said since the early years of Shanahan that he didn't seem like a great speaker to motivate the team since he was all x's and o's, could be why now since we're not in a new coach fresh start type of season now the team is struggling to get started early. Maybe they're starting to get tired of the same o stuff. I could be totally wrong though lol

Nobody. Because nobody want to go to a franchise in half-rebuild mode without a first-round in the upcoming two drafts. And nobody likes QB prospects that haven't been their picks.
Having said that, we are stucked with Shanahan and Lynch for at least another season.
