SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs GREEN BAY PACKERS - 2021 Game 3

Lol we are the ones that got the lions share of favorable calls/non-calls

I disagree. There was a missed tripping on a Jimmy sack, a missed blatant hold on the 25 yard pass to Adams on the final drive, and two of the three DPIs called on the Niners defense were crap. Also had the play where Aaron Jones lowered his helmet into Norman's chest and knocked him out of the game. Just to name a few.

Yeah. it was a poorly officiated game, but both teams benefited numerous times. Couple of bad calls early on are largely what gave the Packers a 10-0 lead. It was mostly a wash by the time the game ended, but I'd just prefer a clean called game for once.

That actually isn't a bad strategy. Defensive holding is only 5 yards. It would have taken them 5 plays to get to the 50.

I've seen Seahawks do that plenty of times in that scenario.

They should have just tackled Adams at the line of scrimmage. With time a factor for the Packers who cares if we get a 10 yard penalty. 10 yards is better than 25.Should have been holding Adams all way down the field. If the flag is before the pass it's just holding and not PI.

that is what the ravens did to us in the SB

they held to run the clock out knowing it didn't matter

Some thoughts I had watching the offense on coaches film:

1. Mack REALLY struggled in this game. From getting blown up on blocks to having some ugly snaps. Wonder if Clark was getting in his head.
2. The entire oline had some terrible moments, along with Woerner (and even Kittle) missing on some blocks in the run game.
3. Jimmy was better than I thought he was watching the broadcast angle. I didn't see many open throws that he missed/didn't take. Had two TDs dropped (though one would have been wiped by penalty) on that drive before half that Trey had to run in. BUT wtf is that sideways step he's doing?!? I noticed it on the bad miss on the 3rd and 1 throw to Kittle and at least once more.
4. Why is Kittle doing so much pass blocking? From what I could tell, McG hasn't been so bad that he needs Kittle out there to help, especially with GB not having their best pass rusher. That really bothers me, especially on 3rd downs or obvious pass situations.
5. Watching the INT from the all-22 definitely looks like Kittle was slightly overthrown. The INT was still a spectacular defensive play and Jimmy did have a guy bearing down on him, so I'm not too mad about. Should have been an incompletion at worst.
6. Sermon seemed to get way better in the 2nd half. That play where he was almost stopped 2x behind the LOS and somehow got positive yards was beautiful running. If you took the hit he took on his first NFL carry, you'd probably be a little affected by it.
7. The optimist in me feels like Kyle is holding back a lot of stuff for upcoming divisional games. The offense just seems kinda blah right now. I know some is due to injuries and some due to poor execution. (Also some due to GB getting away with penalties that could have changed the game)

Thanks for this in watching the coaches' film. I don't have access to that so just going to re-watch the game soon like usual. I'll see if I can notice any "sideways step" from Garoppolo that you're seeing.

All that went wrong in this game, from the D playing poorly, to Garoppolo having some rough moments, to GB dominating in the trenches on both sides of the ball, to the interesting coaching decisions & just this team not looking all that ready to play at the start...all that and yet they came back from 17-0 against a good team & excellent QB to have the lead with 37 seconds remaining and GB starting on its 25 with zero timeouts. Gotta finish a game like that and pull out the W.

The first time I saw it was on the play at about 24 seconds into this video:
