He's quite girthy NC. I'm just glad the focus of the front office is shifting to pass protection more than run blocking which is a must in today's NFL. Even though we run more than most teams, when we are forced to pass against high powered offenses or because our defense isn't performing well, this will help

No question about it!!! Girthy pass protectors. You gotta love it. LOL
His name sounds like a mob heavy, but does he play like one...

Anyone know how well suited this guy is for a zone blocking scheme?

It should be noted that although the Shanahan's are known for their outside zone running game, Kyle has ran quite a bit of man/gap as well. Our running game is diverse and calls for the olineman to have the ability to play in every type of blocking scheme.

To answer your question though, Kelemete was on the saints back in 2016 when they switched to more zone blocking than man/gap. He has shown the ability to play in all the blocking schemes but has played on more gap/man heavy teams.

Well stated.

I think Kyle saw the boom or bust element of zone stretch runs:

David Lombardi:
OL breakdown: 3rd in YPC @ 5.0 but 25th in stuffed rate. All or nothing.

And came out of the think-tank modifying his run game like no other.

Kyle called it all last year in the running game: Gap and Pulls, Power O, Counter, Iso, Zone (Belly, Tight, Inside, Mid, Outside, Wide zone), Book and Bible, Zone Counter, Pin and Pull, Fold, Trap and Wham, Draw, Jet Sweep, RPO, Speed Option, Veer, etc.

It's gotta be the most versatile run game in the league now and that was before he added Lance.

Finally our quarterbacks and receivers will be making more of an impact because of better pass protection (and of course girth)

Which is extra important since BDN is gone.
