The answer is because it was a dumb question.

I feel good with who ever we take at 3, mainly because he will be coached by Kyle.

Jones will be ok. I don't like maximizing the value though. He's not worth 3rd pick.

I'd be very skeptical especially if they move on from Jimmy.

Agree, it may be a stretch. However, most important factors to long-term success include leadership ability and the skill to make fast decisions and have accurate, fast throws at all levels. Regarding Jones specifically, most professional opinions state he has those abilities and competed in the hardest conference. We have really nice weapons who specialize in YAC and simply need the ball in tight windows.
Overall, we have a well built roster. We do have needs: Oline, CB, and edge, particularly depth. What a nice situation to have.

Yes, there is no question the draft is a crap shoot. Our team does have a couple misses with 1st rounders, but if you look at most teams, it is the same. Our team has shown the ability to draft top talent in rounds 1-5, and to build depth.

Honestly I don't have an issue with whoever they pick at 3, whether it's Fields, Lance or Jones, my issue is trading 2 future 1's for a guy who is maybe a bit better(higher upside) than Jimmy, when Fields & Lance's upside is much much higher. I won't be pissed Thursday night, I'll continue to support John & Kyle, not cause I'm a homer, but because I believe in them, I believe the brick by brick motto, they've done a fantastic job, draft, free agency, trades, the salary cap, everything is lining up, whoever is the pick will have the best opportunity to succeed, he's gonna have the best TE in the game(Kittle), 2 dynamic WRs(Aiyuk & Deebo), and the best OW(Juice), plus he has the protection in Trent & Mack, if McGlinchey improves, this OL will look solid, even better than it already is, I'm good with 4 of the 5, RG is the weak link, I'm good with Laken at LG. Plus this QB will have potentially more weapons, Mostert, Wilson, whoever we end up drafting at skill positions.
So as I've said, the future is bright, even without our 2022 & 2023 1st rounders, those should, IMO, be late 1st rounders, and at worst we can always trade back into rd 1, plus whatever we may get for Jimmy, whether it's this year or in 2022.
