He's not an unknown guy to the team. They've met him.

He's still considered a "Question mark" at this point. He could be like a "Ben Garland" type of player. Decent system player, but not really good enough to help Lance with his overall development.

That's the point. They've watched Brendell in practice, they know exactly how good he is, and they aren't concerned so why should we be?

Because fans worry about everything. They worry that a 1st rounder will be a bust. They worry that late rounders or free agents aren't good enough. If they get to the SB they worry about the refs. Fans worry. That's what they do.

Great optimism but plenty of players have looked great in practice and fell flat on their face. Also we don't know if they truly feel he's a starter. He's been in the league since 2016 and has barely touched the field. Let's not act like anyone know who he is. Looking through Pff, the one time he played in 2018 he was bad(176 snaps). He has played six regular season snaps since then.

Did Mack hurt the 49ers in any way by announcing this so late as opposed to in March? New QB gets a new LG and new C. Great.

To me, it was pretty selfish to take all this time till now to retire. BUT if the FO knew this the whole time that's on them. maybe they're happy going into the season with rookie C and new LG.
Idiot.

Ahh ok, a journeyman center who nobody probably has really seen play live games will replace a pro bowler without a hitch because he's been on the roster for 2 years. thats some serious weight off my shoulders

It was on them last year to draft his replacement. They shouldn't be in this position to even worry too much about Mack this year. But here we are. OL remains the teams biggest weakness…again.

People worried about if Tom Brady could replace Drew Bledsoe too.
