The presumption here that unknown young players automatically mean bad players is always funny. I mean you could ultimately be right but the arrogance with which the argument is made is peak comedy and it is done over and over again. As if nobody has every panned out.

Center is an important position for Kyle on the offense. No way he hasn't made contingency for Mack's replacement. Replacement already on the team.

Big loss for Trey. He was going to benefit the most by having a dude like Alex Mack take full responsibility of all the pass pro calls.

If anything this may be a good thing. QBs have a close relationship with the center. Really close. He didn't really have much of a history with Mack.. and if Mack returned he would be gone in a handful of months anyway, right?

Now he gets a new center to work with maybe for the long-haul..

That's actually the best way to look at this. Brendel likely gets the nod at least this season and again optimistic view is that I did like what I seen from him in the preseason. Would love to see West come out and take the job from him though

I don't necessarily disagree, but they clearly feel more comfortable with the C room than us. Also thought it was a steal to get West as an UDFA. I wouldn't have minded him in the 4th

Same here. I was getting mad on day 3 with each pick that wasn't West lol

Hey guys on the bright side our LT isn't a questionmark.
With Mack retiring we got more $$$ to play with here we are far from done with the roster; especially later when clubs start to trim down... gonna be lots of possibilities, and that's not even factoring the JG cap dollars when that is resolved.. we should be in a drivers seat position..

Did Mack hurt the 49ers in any way by announcing this so late as opposed to in March? New QB gets a new LG and new C. Great.

It wasn't a mystery that he might retire. That's on the FO

Not a surprise. He didn't want to be a backup to ascending star Jake Brendell.
