Joe borrow had one yr of elite play and went #1 overall

That one elite year was in the SEC not a non division 1 school. Mitch Trubisky also had one year and look where he is.

No bloody way I trade up for a guy with 14 career starts who needs to sit a year minimum. If he falls to 8-9 ya take him as long as you got a guy to start for 21.

I actually think the draft process will poke holes in his game. It always does.

Mitch didn't play in a pro-style offense. Lance did.

Why does he have to sit for a yr?

The league has a hard on for QB talents like Lance (who's comparable to Herbert/Allen).

They all have holes in there games. That's what the coaches get paid to fix. coach him up.

I like Hyder and Moseley over Verrett (durability).

-Raheem Morris becomes the DC
-FIRST ask Jimmy to take a massive pay cut, if he says no, try to work with him on a trade, if that doesn't work cut him. No way he's playing on his current contract in 2021....More than likely a cut, which saves $50M over the next two yrs.
-cut Gould/Richburg/Nzeocha, along with giving Tomlinson an extension (lower cap in 2021) after all that with Jimmy gone SF with have around $58M and something like $120M in 2022.
-Ford june-1st cut, can't touch that cash until after June BUT use that to give Warner an extension.
-Resigning...Verrett (3yrs $18M), RFA Mosley/givens/Brunskill (cheap), TW (3 yrs, $54M per spotrac), Juice (4yrs $16Mm) Garland (cheap backup). I'm letting K Williams/Hyder check out the market and hopefully we can offer him something end of the day.
-signings: Backup QB one of Dalton/Fitz OR if LV let's Mariota walk. William Jackson DB (spotrac has him at t 3yrs $18M), Corey Linsley (3yrs $26M), if we can't get Hyder back (which I think we can) one of Vernon/Kerrigan. All these contracts can be reworked to fit under the cap no problem.

Draft:
I'm guessing we're gonna be drafting around 8-9 all said an done. Current picks (including Saleh move)
-1st, 2nd, 3rd (comp), 4th, 3 5th rd picks (one for Kwon and one for Sanders comp), 6th and 2 7ths.
-I'm moving up for one of the rookie QBs in Lance/Wilson. 2021 1st and 3rd, 2022 1st and 3rd.

2nd rd (and really the rest of the draft) I'm looking at BPA at EDGE/OL/DB. Possibly a small move down in 2nd to grab an extra 4th or something....Still to early to determine who and at what pick BUT here are a couple guys I like.

2nd rd:
-Jaelan Phillips EDGE
-Quincy Roche EDGE
-Alijah Vera-Tucker OL
-Dillon Radunz OL
-Creed Humphrey IOL
-Josh Myers IOL

4th rd
-Israel Mukuamu CB
-Elijah Molden CB
-greg newsome CB
victor dimukeje EDGE
alex lindstrom-IOL
Tyler linderbaum-IOL

from a draft perspective I really need to start diving in...this is all super fluid.

NY I think this is really good, but who do you see replacing Sherman? Are you thinking of a FA?

I have SF signing William Jackson who's been a solid young CB since coming into the league.

Because he has 14 career starts at North Dakota State. You want a 21 year old with 14 total starts in division 1AA starting in 2021? That's legit crazy.

Pro style offense against what half a dozen players that are even NFL caliber. Doesn't mean a whole lot to me.

Neither Herbert nor Allen went top 5.
Scenario #1:

We draft who I want and I get hammered

Scenario #2:

We don't draft who I want and I get hammered

Assuming Saleh leaves, my dream offseason...
- Dan Quinn DC
-Trade Jimmy G and our 5th to NE for their 3rd
-Trade our 2nd in 2021 and 2022 to Det for Stafford (this would save 6.4m in cap space)
- cut Ford with a post June 1 designation (saves roughly 9m in 2021 cap)
-Richburg reduces in salary by 4m -would still leave him with a 3.85m base (saves 4m in cap space)
-cut Gould, Benjamin, Street, Brendel and Nzeocha ( save 8.35m)
Niners would now have around 48.7 m in cap space
- Sign Trent Williams 5 years 90m. 15m sign on bonus Salaries of 5m, 20m,17m, 16m & 17m. 8m cap hit (40.7m left)
- Sign Juice 4 year 20m . 6m sign bonus. Salaries of 1.5m, 4.5m, 4m & 3m. 3m cap hit in 2021 (37.7m left)
- Sign Mosely 3 year 12 m. 3m sign on salaries of 3m each year 4m cap hit in 2021 (33.7m left)
- Sign Solly Thomas and Ronald Blair each to 1 yr, 2m deals 29.7m left
-Sign Kevin Givens to 2 year 5m deal 1m to sign and 2m each year 27.2 left
- Sign Kerry Hyder to 3 year 12m deal 4m to sign w salaries of 1.5m, 2.5m & 4.m 2.8m cap hit (24.6m left)
-Sign Mike Hilton to play the slot 4 years 35m 10m to sign w salaries of 5m, 8m, 6m & 6m 7.25m cap hit ( 17.35m left)
- Sign Nick Mullins 1 ys 2.35m 15m
- 2m for a kicker 13m left
- Resign Fred Warner 5 years 77m 20m to sign salary of 2m, 10m, 16m , 13m & 16m 6m cap hit 7m in cap space left

Draft
Rd1 Patrick Surtain CB Alabama
Rd 3 (from Patriots) Trey Smith OG Tennessee
Rd 3 (Saleh) Eric Stokes CB Georgia
Rd 4- Alec Lindstrom C BC

Other restructuring would need to take place to round out the roster, but I think this would be an ideal offseason

You lost me at sign Nick Mullens.

This
Sign Trent Williams, Jason Verrett, Kerry Hyder and Juice
Extend Fred Warner
Cut Jimmy G and Robbie Gould. Let Ford and Richburg walk post June 1 to save more cash.
Sign AJ Green (picking washed up and injury prone guys is what the 49ers do, wouldn't surprise me one bit if they do it)
Since they'll lose out and finish 5-11, lets root for the other 5-9 teams to win a game and the 49ers can pick as early as 8 or 6 overall. Draft one of the QBs with that pick, Zach Wilson or Trey Lance would be good.
Invest to upgrade the OL. You'll have to draft a new Center with the second round pick.
Use other picks to stock the secondary that will get depleted in the offseason. Wouldn't surprise me if they use a 4th on a kicker if they used it on a punter.
Use a day 3 pick on a RB. Since Coleman and Mckinnon are leaving, need more depth behind Raheem Mostert. Jeff Wilson still has issues with fumbles, he has always had, should be limited to goal line work.
If they keep core players and improve the QB and pass protection, and get healthy for 2021 they are back.

Herbert and Allen went 7th lol you're talking 2 picks bro. Herbert ran some b******t spread offense.

Murray had one season of real college football and went #1 overall, in a air raid spread offense.

Lance running a pro-style offense, actually has to make reads. I'll take a yr of pro style play vs 2 yrs of air raid/spread offense. What does that prove or help a college QB translate to the NFL?

Yah went 7th. So ya don't trade a 3rd 1st and 3rd to move up 2 spots.

Murray went there because Kingsbury was bringing that offense to the NFL. If Atlanta hires the North Dakota State HC sure he might go top 5.

Stand pat and add Rousseau if the qbs are gone. I don't love any of those guys not named Lawrence enough to give a Giants Eli Manning trade.

No thanks.

Unlike you I have faith in our HC and how he can work his scheme to fit a QBs strength...If they value one of these guys make it happen. Personally I don't think SF is gonna be drafting top 10 a yr from now. I think these top 4 QBs are as good as we've seen in a while.

If a QBs rocking a air raid system for multiple yrs (goff) that's not preparing him for s**t either.
So say if Lance is there at 8th you're good with taking him?

Yes. I'm not good with giving up 3 picks for him. I don't think being overly reckless with draft picks to get your guy at any cost is a sound strategy. I'd like the 9ers to let the 2021 draft come to them this time.

Never had 4 QBs go in top 5 before. Don't see it happening this year. Stand firm. Someone will fall. People will want Surtain Sewell Chase and Rousseau.
