That's the benchmark. If you want to move on to find a "better" QB, they better be able to do better than that. I get not wanting to put everything into the, "i hope Jimmy stays healthy" bag. But, to make sure any of our QB's stay healthy we need to invest a lot of upcoming draft capital into the O-line either via trade of the draft itself. To me, let's go get a backup QB in the 3rd round. If Jimmy clearly shows he's not the guy in 2021, then we blow the whole thing up and rebuild. That's the better option if we're going to start over with a new FR QB.

The benchmark should never be a hypothetical projected statline.

You're asking for the Barry Sanders of QB's and if that happens, we sure as crap aint winning a SB. Not one team has ever won a SB with poor team play. Teams have won SB's without great QB play but not once has a team won with poor team play. Never. Ever. In the history of the game.

Your hypothetical numbers are not the benchmark. What I just wrote is the benchmark, because that actually happened.

But before we get to numbers, the actual benchmark is health related. If a new QB comes in here and plays in more than 5 out of every 10 games, it will be an upgrade. 57% (and dropping) of the time being on the field is the benchmark. Statistics are secondary.

-What NFL QBs will become available for trade
-What our front office would be willing to give up for said NFL QBs in trade compensation
-What NFL QBs will become available after roster cuts
-What our front office would be willing to give up for said NFL QBs in salary compensation
-What college QBs would be available when we draft
-If our front office wants to draft a QB in r1, or r2, etc.
-How long said college QBs will take to become NFL caliber players
-What our front office truly thinks about Jimmy

Unless you have an answer to most or all of the above bullet points, I dont understand how people can expect others to come up with realistic options. If you dont know the answer to those questions, what might seem realistic might be a pipe dream. If you dont know the answer to those questions, what might seem like a pipe dream might be realistic.

This is why I continually say that people asking the "well who would be a realistic better option" are asking with the knowledge that not a single person in the world can answer....and just because those answers to an impossible question dont exist, it doesnt mean the person asking the question is coming from the correct viewpoint.

You've been straw manning that argument to justify your stance on bringing Jimmy back.

The fact is that the ONLY way to truly fix the offensive line and the other holes on this team is to cut bait.

How can you seriously believe our offensive line is the sole reason Jimmy has been injured so much and then justify keeping him when we have to pay Trent Williams? It doesn't make sense.

No one is saying it's all Jimmy's fault. But to pretend none of the lack of production is due to Jimmy is asinine.

Stafford is a massive upgrade over Jimmy. Huge. Ryan is better, if he's available. Not sure who really is available or not. If you provide a list of starting QBs, I can tell you who will be an upgrade. But those two guys are better and don't miss 40% of their games

I can't tell you with full certainty that Zac Wilson or Mac Jones would be better for obvious reason, but I'm willing to take that risk. OP said it well.

Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Mac Jones, and Kyle Trask are all way better prospects than Jimmy was.
