Time to panic? Nah. Time to find something else to do on Sunday because the game is probably getting turned off early.

cause for great concern. and to me it has little to do with injuries.. its about getting guys ready to play the game and make good coaching decisions in the game

My feelings are beyond panic. It's more of a reality. Realizing this team sucks year in and year out. 1 good season followed up by s**t. They sucked before last year and now they suck again. It's exhausting seeing them struggle every year. It would be nice to consistently put up winning seasons but that hasn't happened for quite some time. So until they get a QB that the HC/ OC feel comfortable letting sling the rock they'll continue to be mediocre at best. Running the ball only works if the game is close or the team is ahead. Running the ball won a lot of games last year not the QB. Outside of the NO game I'm struggling to remember a game that the QB actually put the team on his back and won.

Its unbelivable how the Ol cant pass pro i dont remember last year being such a disaster at all even with person on the few occasions we passed it. No idea how it could happen.

Did we lose a coach?

The pass protection wasn't great last year either. The running game was so good that it masked the deficiencies. Other teams had to worry so much about the run that they couldn't go all out on the pass rush unless the Niners were trailing and had to pass like at the end of the SB. I'm not sure but it could be that the blocking schemes that Kyle uses so much for the running game might keep them from getting good at pass protection. He likes mobile linemen instead of the huge blocks of granite.

It's soooo complicated. The front office didn't exactly do Jimmy any favors this past offseason. They let the best Wide Receiver walk. And offensive line is putrid.

offensive line seriously needs some more draft capital and money dumped into it.

Think about it we got some unathletic "light in the ass" < (I got this from our resident seacuck troll) bums on the oline - Garland, Brunskill, McClinchey.

You all think your God's gift to football coaching, which begs the question why aren't you being paid millions of dollars to coach professional football? You think you have all the answers. Get rid of Jimmy G. Get rid of Kyle S. Rebuilding time is here. Christ! Give it a rest.
The entire secondary and half the D-line starters are out due to injuries. What do you expect? The O-line is playing like sh*t but they, too, are missing key players. Half the running backs are injured. If you want to place blame, put it on the two weeks on trash field in New York - that field should be outlawed in the NFL.
The reality is the head coach is possibly the best or certainly one of the best offensive minds in football. Today everyone had a terrible day. But next week we will see Sherman and Moseley back in the secondary; that will improve the entire defense significantly. Jimmy G. has to deal with the high ankle injury, and that may take some time. However, the team is still SB worthy. They are unlikely to get a top 10 draft pick, and they will probably still win enough games to make the playoffs, at which point anything can happen.
You are so quick to give up on a team that made the SB last year just because they didn't win it. This year they have been decimated by injures, and no matter what anyone says officially, that makes a BIG difference.
If you are only a fair weather fan then go someplace else. I sat through the worst years and I watched the best years and I have faith that this team will come back from this devastating loss (and last week's) and show up as the powerhouse team that it is.
If you think I am wrong, then go apply for a professional coaching position and see what results you get.
Thank you. Some people are so ignorant. With a mostly healthy team we are EASILY 4-1 if not 5-0.
Cardinals game
Richburg out Garland out and a practice squad center playing. Odds are 4th and inches at the Cards goal line we make it.
Kittle injured before halftime. I guarantee if he was healthy we win the game. Unless he doesn't make up for the 21 yards we needed to win. Yeah right
Eagles game
No
Bosa
Ford
Mostert
Sherman
Jimmy G
Moesley
Easy win there
Miami game
No chance in hell they win if we have
Bosa
Ford
Sherman
Moesley
Williams
A HEALTHY jimmy G
We had the best pass defense in yards allowed since 2009 jets with Revis and one of the best pass rush lines in a long time. Even if our offense took a crap, a practice squad Allen (147 yards given up and 2 defensive PIs basically 3 tds in 23 Minutes![]()
) not to mention a practice squad slot cb Taylor giving up a 70 yarder to a TE
We win.
INJURIES is the reason we aren't 5-0 plain and simple. Yes our OL is playing like garbage but people seem to forget before Jimmy was injured he was playing excellent against the jets. The Jets are crap but I'm looking at ball placement and accuracy.
So disappointing the injuries but even worse is people not seeing this or saying some typical cliche like injuries happen to every team? Really? What about the QUALITY of the players injured and the NUMBER of injuries.
Good post, elquapo.
And the way the injuries cluster around certain positions. Pass rush and DB for example.
Thanks Mayo. It's so true, English, any other team that is down to practice squad players and 3rd stringers at the MOST IMPORTANT positions on D (and offense) would be much worse off than us and lose more games than us. We know this bc we had the best depth last year and still probably do.

Only reason Kittle went out is because Jimmy threw it way high and left Kittle exposed. So yeah maybe we could be 3-2 instead of 2-3. Regardless the offensive line and QB play is atrocious even with starters in. The CB position is decimated and that's what happens when you start the year with only 3 good corners on the team. 1 injury away from having a s**tty backup. 3 injuries away from having all s**tty backups getting torched! This team isn't very good this year. Last year felt a little like a fluke and now this year is proving that. Let's stop pretending like this is a 4-1 or 5-0 team. Lucky to pull off 5 wins this year. 4-12
No chance in hell we aren't 4-1 or 5-0. If we just had Moseley in the philly game we win. Let's not even talk about the rest of our injured all pros or even Mostert.
If we had Moseley, Williams and our pass rushers (or just Bosa) in the Miami game we make Fitz look like garbage. I guess you forgot what our elite D looks like. Please don't minimize Kittles contributions to this team. We easily win if he's healthy the second half. Who cares how he got injured. That was your counter
He changes everything on offense and you said we "were healthy enough"
come on man. That's such a bad argument You do realize even with worse qb play or OL play we still are a very very good team. Look at Baltimore. They are even worse on offense and Lamar Jackson has missed at least 5 wide open tds already. Hes regressed and their running game is worse as well as their OL play.
Baltimore is in the same EXACT situation EXCEPT their D is healthy (and we have a better defense than they do when healthy) that's why they are 4-1
Can you at least admit that? Damn some people just can't admit anything these days. If KC had a bunch of all pro injuries and lost many games (and ultimately the playoffs) bc of that I would admit it and not be so blind just bc they aren't as good as last year. BYW they lost to the RAIDERS with their horrible D and limited wrs. Come on!!!!!

I'm getting to this point. Hope we win Sunday to give me a glimmer of hope. I looked forward to football after being stuck at home all year. Now we are 1 month in and it almost seems over.

I don't like to use injuries as excuses since every team loses players but when your team is built to win around the defense and you lose so many starters it's pretty much over.
Now the schedule gets really tough and the offense is sputtering too. The only way would make the playoffs is if we played in the NFC East. Hopefully next season gets back to normal.
I don't see next year being markedly better than this year.

Hard disagree, we have some spots to fix but tons of talent and a great staff. When healthy this team is as good as anybody. If we had an elite QB we might even still be contending.
Agree Philly, but Cousins sure ain't that QB,neither is Ryan, he co-lost the ATL SB with Kyle before. Rodgers fits the elite QB play and Luck but hes happy at home. Rodgers would be great for a short term window 2-3 years but after that who knows how much he would fall off. Of course with the cap, FA and players moving from team to team to cash in I guess the best you can hope for is a 2-3 year window at best before the team goes through a drought of being top level and even longer to get back to a SB. SEA has elite QB play and look how long it's been since they have been back, same with Rodgers, Brees, all have SB rings but very hard to go consistently unless your organization is NE with BB.
I am with you and think the team is still very solid, when the #1's are healthy, and we are only 3-4 guys away from being top 3 for the NFL.
We would have been fine this year with 1 starting CB out a week or 2, a LB,the QB,DE,etc here and there, but not 6,8,9 #1's for 3,4,6 weeks at a time, no team can take that kind of drop off in talent and win each week.

The defense is in shambles due to injury and the offense is in shambles because we have an injured QB and players who have no chemistry playing together.
We can still pull it together, but this is football. One key injury can ruin a season unlike any other sport.
Very true. Now we just need RW, Goff,Murray,Mahommes, Arod, Jackson, Brees, Allen to go down with season ending injuries and we are primed for a playoff spot.
