That game illustrated how any QB in the league can look good under the right circumstances. Eagles in a soft defense because of that 2 point conversion allowed CJ to move right down the field. It also showed Nick's limitations. If he can't get rid of the ball to the 1st or 2nd read he's dead. He absolutely is a statue back there. Two INTs and a lost fumble were the difference in a game that the Niners should have won.
The O line was manhandled for much of the game. The Eagles have a lot of injuries but their D line is really solid. They also have depth that can keep their guys fresh. I'm not sure Jimmy would have handled that pressure better but he is a little better at rolling away from the rush.
Yeah if the running game is humming, Nick is good to go. he's a system QB and knows the scheme. When something breaks down and he's got to hold onto the ball for any length of time it's a s**t show.
His arm strength is subpar and he just can't extend plays. He's a backup for a reason. OL was trash but Mullens lost us that game.
Can you imagine if we had a QB with top end arm talent, who could actually extend plays (and was smart enough to understand the offense/ read defenses), add in Kyle
Love Jimmy and he's QB1 in SF no doubt. I think we could do better though.
