yikes... going back to this. now.

I know my team.

TBF, BeatHard did a nice job taking what the prevent defense gave him and directing the team but that's in stark contrast to Mullens getting pounded for mostly 4 quarters and doing what all QB's do under duress...make key mistakes. This time we couldn't overcome them.

oh im going back to my original post regarding Oscar's tweet. That was indeed a situation we didn't want for Mullens and the worst possible outcome played out.
Russell Wilson could just sit back there all day dodging and evading our DL and laughing while doing so.
positive news...I think we finally have some real talent at the play-maker positions (Kittle/Deebo/Aiyuk/Jet/Mostert). Our defense is still very good, considering who ISN'T playing.

Both 1st rd picks are looking good. We get Jimmy back.

nah
That game illustrated how any QB in the league can look good under the right circumstances. Eagles in a soft defense because of that 2 point conversion allowed CJ to move right down the field. It also showed Nick's limitations. If he can't get rid of the ball to the 1st or 2nd read he's dead. He absolutely is a statue back there. Two INTs and a lost fumble were the difference in a game that the Niners should have won.

The O line was manhandled for much of the game. The Eagles have a lot of injuries but their D line is really solid. They also have depth that can keep their guys fresh. I'm not sure Jimmy would have handled that pressure better but he is a little better at rolling away from the rush.

Yeah if the running game is humming, Nick is good to go. he's a system QB and knows the scheme. When something breaks down and he's got to hold onto the ball for any length of time it's a s**t show.

His arm strength is subpar and he just can't extend plays. He's a backup for a reason. OL was trash but Mullens lost us that game.

Can you imagine if we had a QB with top end arm talent, who could actually extend plays (and was smart enough to understand the offense/ read defenses), add in Kyle

Love Jimmy and he's QB1 in SF no doubt. I think we could do better though.

his release on those screens would have helped a lot. mullens wasnt fast enough
This might end up being our worst loss of the year smh

Well Jimmy's arm talent (just comparing with Mullens) would have helped with last night immensely in terms of his release time. and he's better at reading the defense than Mullens or anybody else we have as well. so yes, i can imagine those things because i've literally seen all that with Jimmy and Shanahan lol
Straight Up: This defense can't handle mobile QBs.

The sad part is we made Wentz look like a mobile QB

We've also seen Jimmy take sacks when he's pressured and Philly brought pressure last night. Yes his release is quick but there still has to be someone open. If they don't get open right away it makes it tough for guys like JG and Nick who aren't mobile.

Jimmy's our guy but damn I watch QBs for other teams extend plays so they can hit an open receiver or run for 1st downs when they look trapped every game I watch. Look how often Wentz, who looked horrible passing, ran for yardage yesterday when it looked like he would be sacked. Our QBs just can't do that.

I mean that's not saying much I'm talking legit arm talent and the ability to move around inside/outside of the pocket, all while still looking downfield. IF you're not gonna build the best OL known to man then you should look at some other things in regards to your QB.

All this doesn't really matter if they can't start running the ball. This scheme requires it. We can't ask Jimmy/Mullens or whomever is the QB on the current roster to take a bunch of drop backs and let routes develop. They will get killed. Play-action/motion/being ahead of the chains are major contributors to improved pass-pro. Currently it's not happening on the ground and it messes everything up.
