It feels the 49ers have been burned a few too many times with extensions recently to overpay for another WR. Not my thoughts but I am wondering if that's what the org is thinking???

I thought we should have traded Deebo and Aiyuk but I was happy to have them back. However in hindsight the 49ers got burned in both instances. Juaun's game is built around physicality so he should age better than most WRs. Still I am afraid the 49ers might be a little gun shy.

If reports of Jennings wanting $30 million a year are legit then he's as good as gone. I want JJ back. He's a baller and brings tenacious blocking and a physical mindset you don't often see in WRs. JJ is also as clutch as they come and a big red zone target for Brock.

If the 49ers aren't willing to pay Jennings do they franchise him and then try and trade him??? At this point that is what you have to do. You can't let him walk and only get a 3rd or less out of the deal. With everything being equal I would love to see him in a 49ers uniform next season. You will never get the value Jennings brings to the field back in any trade. Unfortunately there is a business component to this that may kill any chance he remains a 9er.

Who knows what the market will be this off season but I thought he wanted $18-$20M a year and niners were offering like $10M- $12M. I may be remembering it wrong.

what I don't know, yet, is how aiyuks contract changes things for the niners next year. I know they'll have some dead cap but idk how it'll be spread or anything like that.

id love to resign JJ though. He isn't the most talented dude but very reliable in clutch situations. Awesome blocker and huge positive energy for the team. Those are things that don't show up on a stat sheet but are valuable.

Resign and pay the man. Out of the three (JJ, Aiyuk,Deebo) he's the least diva.

His physicality alone is worth the ticket

He's a back end two, top end three, imo. Will probably get something in the neighborhood of 15/year.

Jakobi meyers is CURRENTLY 29 years old and got $20m a year extension a few days ago.

I guess we'll see but I suspect Jennings might be in that neighborhood

This. And as a FA, they always get overpaid. He will probably get somewhere between $23-25 mil.

I don't see us going over 20 mil. I would definitely bring him back for 20 mil a year on a 4-5 year contract

WHEN and IF all the screws are tight, no 3rd down WR is better than J1 !!

BUT.. he still ain't worth over 20M a year..
I think most niners fans would love him back at that $18-20m/yr. More than that and idk. I think Jennings is worth it and I hope he gets paid. There aren't many WRs in the NFL these days like him. He's that old school physical guy that you hate with a passion of he's on the other team, but love him on your squad
Letting him walk away would be a mistake. Dumping Aiyuk should allow us to pay Jennings. If Pearsall is going to unreliable we can't afford to lose Jennings.

I would try to get him on a short time contract. Maybe 3 years if possible.
Its hard because we know he is going to get 20 million. Based off what I see, I think a healthy Jauan can give 800 - 1000 yards a year, 60 - 80 catches, clutch catches, 3rd down conversions, monster blocking, and can get in the head of opposing defenses. When compared to other 800 - 1000 yard receivers, I think that might be worth it. Not just because of what he offers, but also because we can't just replace him in the draft. Aiyuk, though more talented, is more replaceable. Its like trying to find another Dennis Rodman. You won't so you may as well keep the one you got. I don't want Jennings on a contender or have to go up against him.

I hope we can figure it out because we need to keep our dogs around, particularly until someone from these 2023- present draft classes emerge.

The other option is get a combination of guys for 20 million that can replace Jennings (Kyle Pitts + another player).
If they shed Aiyuk's salary they may be willing to pay JJ $20-25 mil. Not more than that. They'll definitley be trying to find a good and cheap WR in the draft.

I wish there was a George Kittle light in free agency or the draft. If there were a tight end that was a monster blocker and good receiver, it would be more economical to add that player due how the receiver market is. But Kittle is clearly 1 of 1.

It's a must we do what It takes to re-sign this man.

I hope there isn't any bad blood from this past off season that gets in the way of new negotiations.

This is a real far fetched idea but if they can't sign him maybe they could use Tonges as a possession receiver. He's shown he can get open and has really good hands. He's an inch taller and about 15 pounds heavier than JJ. His 40 time was very similar so speed isn't an issue here.

17 a year for 3 seasons max or let him walk. He's at best a #2 on a good team but more realistically a #3.
