Absolutely! He will have earned it if he balls out and stays healthy... Niners could get lucky with a 2nd / 3rd rounder from desperate team

If he balls out we will get a 3rd when he walks. Other teams are not part of that equation. I don't think we hold him with a tag to get a 2nd

If they tagged him he'd just sign and be delighted. The minimum contract for tags would be way more than he's worth.

18m for non exclusive in 2024. I didn't see the current number. If he plays lights out, it'll be worth it.

Jameson Williams had similar stats to JJ and just got paid. I wonder if thats the range JJ looking for?

non-exclusive is only right of refusal right? No draft pick compensation if (when) he leaves? Don't know that that would work. And I think $18M is too much.

Williams had a much better season than JJ did (22 fewer targets and more yards), and he's 5 years younger and WAY faster and more athletic. There is more potential there by a lot.

But is he as well rounded as JJ?

JJ; Best blocking WR in the league on a running football team? Most reliable 3rd down receiver, and he was pretty close to being the super bowl MVP which means he's not just clutch on third down but in big games. When the pressure is on, JJ turns into MJ (Michael Jordan)!!! Stats can't measure what JJ brings to the table, when he's not MJ he's Draymond Green for us with his blocking, bully game.
What's JJ's injury

Probably cramping from sitting out all off season. Like every player we have had hold out

No, there's picks. Transition is the one without picks.

"Teams that use the non-exclusive franchise tag hold the right of first refusal. If a designated player signs an offer sheet with another team, the player's previous team has five days to match the offer sheet. Should it decide not to, the player's original team shall be entitled to draft-choice compensation equivalent to two first-round picks." Credit NFL website.

So what injury did he have? This does not help his case when he enters FA if he sits out long.
Some kind of a shoulder injury. Sign Bourne this week & sit JJ out next week so he doesn't receive his extra $$ he held out for. Didn't even seem like he was on the field today

Was questionable after the injury (shoulder)

Regardless comparing Williams to JJ is diabolical
Someone may have already mentioned this but something maybec under the radar is in hindsight Jennings f**ked up on the business side. He could've signed a nice, sweet 3 year deal for about 15 mil APY but didn't. This injury if it lastss for a while will not enhance his FA next off-season. He bet on himself and may have lost.
Shoulder injury to where it was said on the telecast that he couldn't even raise his arm up.

The stats are definitely not similar to me, but if we are talking impact, JJ's is up there and I can see a team paying him north of 15 million. Too rich for us, but it's deserved if he can bring that ferocious blocking ability, third down clutchness, and can be an effective number 2 (800 + yards per season).
