The suspension is why Robinson was available. He's a good WR who has been behind other good WRs.

He's coming off back to back 1 year deals for relatively little money.

This is a 30 year old player entering his 10th NFL season. Been a part of great passing offenses with great QBs his entire career. Started 10 or more games in three different seasons, including 17 last year. Never produced more than 600 yards in any season.

How much demand do you think there was going to be?

He's looked pretty good in clips, obviously not cutting to his full ability but he was running routes during preseason warmups. That doesn't scream guy who doesn't trust his knee. I find it hard to believe he doesn't suit up this year and likely in the first half of the season. He may not get back to what he was in 2023 until next year if ever but I expect him back and contributing even if not to his pre injury and pre holdout levels.

I think we will know for sure where he is if they bring him in to practice for week 5. If they do there is a possibility he is active for week 5. Kyle hinted at week 6 being possible.

I was at the preseason game against the Raiders. Aiyuk looked good running routes and catching passes from Purdy during warm ups. He will be active by game 5.😎
If JJ is acting like this, I think it would set such a good example for the team moving forward if Lynch could somehow find a loophole and suspend JJ without pay. He is essentially doing what our player did last year when he told Kyle he did not want to play anymore and was suspended without pay. JJ is doing the same thing. At least the player last year was man enough to state it and not lie which actually makes JJ look more of a coward.

Difference is JJ "showed up" and practiced for 4 days, then sustained a calf "injury", which is very subjective. Would be a fight with the nflpa if they suspended him and I don't know if it's worth the further bad blood.

Hopefully he shows up to practice this week

The hardball move would be to place him on IR and replace his roster spot with Bourne

If JJ doesn't rack up any stats this year it crushes his earning potential for next year after he leaves the team
We have practice today at 10:55 am! Let's hope he shows up and shows out
Trade or cut him if he doesn't show up today.

Neither of those options is logical or smart given the point it sends in trying to avoid these situations in the future.

Put him on IR because his calf injury is just so bad.
If they put him on IR they have to pay him. They can file an injury grievance with the NFL medial arbiter which would let them not pay him and might be able to pull back signing/roster bonuses if they find he is healthy enough to play.

The problem is that the team wants to be seen as a good place for free agents to play and where their own picks want to stay, and them going hard against Jennings is a problem for their rep. It's probably cheaper to just pay him to not play and let him walk.

And on the "trade him" idea ... better to just let him walk next year and get a comp pick.

That's the move if he wants to sit. Trade wise you're not getting anything of value for a player that you value more than other teams, especially in this situation. They can get a better return for him when he leaves in FA cuz of a comp pick.

For real. Lol we save more money if he doesn't play.

  • Per Game Active Bonus: $36,764 ($625,000)
  • 2025 Escalators 50% Snaps: $1.5M
    60 Receptions: $666,667
    600 Receiving Yards: $666,666
    6 Touchdowns: $666,667

if he doesn't play, he loses $625k and the ability to earn an extra $4.125M in incentives. Incentives that aren't too hard to achieve since most guys are out.

he's incentivized to show up. Once he leaves and makes big money elsewhere, we get a good comp pick.
