I like that the front office is finally taking a stance with these contracts.

If he doesn't practice this week let him sit the year or trade him. Sign Bourne.

Pearsall is ready to be our #1. We have Aiuyk coming back by week 4-6. Robinson by week 4. Rookie Jordan Watkins would have made an impact if he didn't get hurt. And with Robinson on the team I think CMC will be a major player in the passing game and Kittle will have a career year as our #1 option.

Week 1:

1- Kittle
2- Pearsall
3- CMC
4- Bourne
5- MVS
6- Gage
7- Moore

By week 6:
1- Kittle
2- Pearsall
3- Aiuyk
4- CMC
5- Robinson
6- Bourne
7- MVS
8- Watkins
9- Gage
10- Moore

That's why it's a smarter move by Jennings to stop this and play now. It's his best chance to get the bulk of the WR targets.

You never know with injuries of course but he's got 3 weeks to show his best stuff. If he sits he's got a chance for Robinson and Pearsall to get ahead of him. When Aiyuk comes back that's further back on the depth chart. Who knows what Cowing and Watkins do…could push him even further down(though his run blocking does give him an edge)

Do the smart think JJ and be the football player we've known you to be. I have a hard time thinking with everything in play and his competitive spirit that he will sit but who knows.

Where does he rank in Madden? Just curious…….
I don't know I don't play video games. I only know the fantasy ranking due to the fact i was at the local publix with my wife and happened to see an Athlon Sports fantasy magazine on an end cap and thought what the heck. (sorta telling my age now, I just thought his ranking might mean something for the younger ones that play the fantasy football game.)
Yea I don't play video games either I was just throwing that out there Lol. I was born mid last century myself

So JJ can fake injured and receive his whole contract minus incentives. Ouch

Doesn't he have to play six games for his contract to toll? Does the contract toll if they put him on IR for the year?

What signal does that send to other teams though? Think other teams would decline giving him a big contract after doing that?

OR - the 9ers could acquire a injury insurance policy for JJ that would make him comfortable to play this year on his existing deal?

Sour precedent for the whole league if he forces a trade -- his new team would have to give up a pick and pay him his new demand.

If he's "injured" it will not roll over. However if he's basically a hold-in type all year he's going to collect the salary he's not thrilled with here while doing himself a monster disservice going into free agency.

The best thing about JJ is his passion for the game and his ability to play it at a constant 100%.

If he sits out with what everyone pretty much suspects is a made up injury I can see other teams questioning if his commitment is changing at the same time who in their right mind would pay a WR who will be 29 when next season starts when he's never cracked 1000 yards in a season and outside of last season his career best was a 416 yard season and a 5 TD best during a 282 yard season.

Simply put that's not a resume for teams to invest big $ and long term in.

Now if he goes out there and shows last year is more indicative of his potential…then he can get the big $ he's pushing for here. That is his only path to seeing those numbers. Nobody in their right mind will pay him like WR1 and unlikely that he even gets WR2 money without a big year this season. To get that big season…he's gotta play and play early.

And the reason he wanted the money now is because he knows he's not going to replicate last years numbers on this team.

But you are absolutely right ... not playing only works if it leads to a trade, but that window is VERY close to being closed.

Unless the 49ers fold into paying him, which I don't think they will, JJ should fire his agent for this horrible decision. This hold out will cost him a lot of money going forward in his career. At this point, If he doesn't perform this year, he might not be in the league within 2 years.

WR3's fall off so quickly at times in the NFL.

Haha I guess I fall in that category
Anyway back to JJ…… I would tell him to take the added incentives ( if the team offers) and play ball. If he doesn't he will risk the bigger $$ deal he's been working towards all these years. Hope he heals up by Monday and is at practice and getting ready for the Seabirds. JMHO

You forgot Robinson.
He better be careful, this could really backfire on him, especially if they sign Bourne tomorrow. I know Bourne's not him, but Kyle will work with what he has and then Robinson comes back and then Aiyuk. MVS can also come in and happily help.

Would take some extra incentives and get ready for Seattle if I were him as the Niners need to stop this yearly madness and unfortunately it's going to start with him.

Who remembers the Bonzi Wells situation with the Sacramento kings like 20 years ago? Wanted way more than the market rate. Kings pulled the offer. He never got an nba contract again.

Those line-ups look dreadful compared to the start of the last few previous seasons. It's mostly just Kittle,CMC, and then just a bunch of JAGs/massive question marks.

Pretty much. Hopefully Pearsall can be the player we all hope he will be.

Shanny going to have to have a special season. He's capable, so at least we have that going for us.
