Jerry Jones said they might use their 1st for a trade. Let's trade him to Dallas for a 1st. Jerry might be dumb enough to do it...

I know, not really but I can dream, right?

So his agents pushing for more money is not a surprise. That Lynch was caving to any and all previous pay raise demand, did not help.

JJ almost pulled one over the blonde bimbo's head by telling him that he (JJ) would use some of the leftover cash to return to school (STANFORD) to get a PHD (Pimpin Hoggin n Doggin)... maybe Paraag had to step in

It's very possible, just let Lynch talk to him... Jerruh is pretty senile and has a thing for blonde bimbos

Unfortunately, Jennings chose the worst possible time to put his foot down for a major extension.

First, the team extended him for around 7.5 mil a year last year, which is a general sign that the team is not going to increase his salary 3 to 4 fold moving forward even though he had a good year.

Second, the team just got out from under contracts and are wearing the dead cap his this year - this was intentional. The team is a in a mini rebuild and therefore has no intention of paying large contracts to B or C players while it gets its cap right. We don't want to end up like the Saints.

Third, Jennings is not worth 20 mil +. He is a good but not great receiver. His year was not good enough to get us 7 wins. Hell, we lost a game when he caught for over 200 yards.

Fourth, Jennings is the opportunity the team has been looking for to create new contract precedent. Each of the last few off seasons we have had A+ players demanding record setting contracts. The team clearly regrets the Aiyuk deal, and is therefore using Jenings to send a message to its above average players that it is no longer playing these hold out = massive contract games. The team cannot afford to bend to every player who has a good year otherwise the cap will be in deep trouble. It's easy to put the foot down on Jennings, despite the WR room issues right now, in part because they signed Robinson, drafted Pearsall, and have other veterans who the team likely see as at least closer to Jennings, but who cost little. This is the chance to reset their negotiation precedent that they will only pay A+ players (Purdy, Warner, Kittle).

It's not worth setting that precedent. If they want to play hardball put him on IR. Either he gets healthy real quick or he sits 4+ games when we end up getting help coming in and pushing him down the depth chart.

Agree with both of the above. Call his bluff. Jennings has way more to lose than the 49ers.

I don't play Fantasy Football but for what its worth Juan was the highest ranked 49er WR (not counting Kittle).

Well he's not playing or practicing so he's not helping in those areas. I'm thinking he would command a 7th round pick, when you look at the Deebo trade.

why trade today for a 7th, when you can let him walk in FA and get a better comp pick?

because we need the roster spot for a player that is on the field playing.

Yeah putting him on IR would be the way to go. I like JJ but he's not irreplaceable.

Please don't…

I also fully expected this to be a 9moon post.

I don't know I don't play video games. I only know the fantasy ranking due to the fact i was at the local publix with my wife and happened to see an Athlon Sports fantasy magazine on an end cap and thought what the heck. (sorta telling my age now, I just thought his ranking might mean something for the younger ones that play the fantasy football game.)

Pearsall is ranked slightly higher than Jennings in both standard and PPR (full point). Another poster had said earlier that Pearsall was ranked 'significantly higher' than Jennings for FF this season, which was also incorrect. Fantasy football projections are pretty meaningless obviously.

I wonder when it was published. I should have mentioned in my last post that different outlets will have different rankings, but they're usually pretty close.

I'd be pretty hesitant to draft 49ers wide receivers this season… certainly Jennings at least at this point.

Yes, none of the 49er wr's are ranked very high. From what I seen in the magazine I think jennings was around 47 in the magazine. I actually just looked online and it seems they have updated it and pearsall is 38 and Jennings is now 49 and Aiyuk is 63. Kittle was ranked around 5 in the magazine for Tight ends. all these are athlon sports numbers

But if Juan is asking for 20m or more then I would assume this is his last year with the 49ers and he may not even play this year. who knows
i just want to win

Those FF magazines are put out right after the draft so I'm sure it was done when Pearsall was still dealing with his injury from OTAs and JJ was practicing and maybe even before the news of his contract demand came out(I feel like that news dropped after the draft but not sure) definitely before his "calf injury"
Sry the only way I'm paying him what he wants is if he's better then Aiyuk this year, then Aiyuk is getting traded and Jennings gets paid.

Pearsall is going to cook with a top 5 QB.
