if he would lose at least half - might change his mind. That'll be interesting. I don't like the niners playing such hard ball with a guy who's been morning but awesome and a life saver but oh well.

Hard ball....he was extended last year.

Lol he signed on to get paid as the 3rd or 4th recieving option. A rarely used player, not the #1 or 2 WR. He came through for the team when it needed him and he vastly outplayed that Tiny deal.

go ahead, sign on to be an analyst at a company and then, because of company need, you're thrust into the top role in the dept and expected to keep analyst pay for 2 years cause that's what you originally agreed upon. Lol

why don't some fans understand that you sign an extension based on what your role is supposed to be and when you vastly outplayed that role, especially for the teams benefit, you want to be properly compensated for it. Especially when you're in the last couple years of your prime.

so odd. Lol

He still is a #3. .

He's our best and most reliable WR until proven so.
Pearsall hss had a good camp and I'm optimistic about him but until he's shown he's reliable on game day and stays healthy - he is a major unknown.

Robinson is more likely our 3rd option as he's never had more than 505 yards. Which he won't be available for three games, so who knows how he will look (I'm optimistic about him too but he's a career 3/4th option and no reason to think otherwise). If anything, he's taking Jennings old spot.

BA - will miss nearly half the season and take several games to get back into playing mode (which is normal) but who knows if he will be the same player. So he's also an "unknown".

the rest are a bunch of unproven players who so far can't stay healthy.

I hope Jennings is playing week 1 cause we will need his run blocking ability badly too.

He still is a #3. Why would you pay for anything else? It doesn't matter what the team circumstances are.
I'm sick of these self entitled football players. Let his ass sit and fine him every day. This story line gotten old. Ward coming out publicly saying I just checked out when I realized I wasn't being extended.

Lol. JJ was our best and most reliable WR. Apparently, he just has a doozy of a calf injury.

If it keeps him out a few weeks or for the year, those are just the breaks, I suppose.

Lol I'd wager his calf injury isn't real.

he came into camp ballin and looking great, so the team was aware how he looks, and then got a "calf" injury so he didn't have to practice but wouldn't be fined.

I can't prove it but that seems to be the likely case. Hopefully he's "healed" up here soon and getting in on the game prep/practices for week 1.
IR???!

I think so but it could cause him to miss triggered incentives. This could get uglier and we might even know tomorrow at cuts if IR happens.

He had a few really good games due to injuries on our team but when they came back (except Aiyuk) he returned to #2, #3 duties. One game was a monster going for 175yds and 3tds. He should honor visas contract and play for what he signed. At this stage in his career he should have one more payday and he can't go down as a diva especially since he's not close to a #1 wr.
Pay him or trade him

Dude is acting way too much like a Diva for a WR3

Last year he was the #1 nearly all year. He's on track for at least the 1 or 2 gig for a majority of the year (assuming no one gets injured).

when you have a bunch of #2 guys, like Jaylon waddle, making $15-$27M, he probably is underpaid.

I don't think there is an argument to say that Jennings is paid proper market value. The niners just got him to sign a deal before he realized the role he was going to be vaulted into.

he assumed he would have that 3-4th option WR again and scenarios have moved him into first or second WR options.

this isn't the niners fault but Jennings has outplayed his current contract. I just don't see the the harm in offering him a few mil in incentives to smooth this over.

He hasn't outplayed his contract, he just played a lot.

He's still a WR3. If Aiyuk was available or Robsinson was available it would be more clear. Just because players are not available does not make Jennings into something he's not.

So if Kittle and Farrell are injured is Jake Tonges suddenly worth TE1 money? Obviously not. Jennings is a good WR3 slot receiver.

The fact that they are talking about IR if it isn't "resolved" before the season makes me even more sure it's not a real injury.

What kind of take is this? I doubt Jennings is asking for #1 money and I doubt Tonges goes and puts up the numbers Jennings did in correspondence to his position
