He's worth $15 million easily. He's our best, most healthy and most productive WR. Big and physical and aggressive too. He has it all but straight line speed. $7.5 million is ridiculous for him. Pay him. With top guys now making $30, $32, $35 million and soon to be $40 million as the cap increases this is not too much. It's a good deal for him. 2 years at $15 million would be fair and he's worth that. There is no argument that he's not. As the cap increases and top guys start making around $40 million it won't even look like a bad deal. More like a steal.
He completely outplayed his contract last year. He has a bad ass swag about him like I have no problem tackling your ass to the ground if need be. He's a tough guy. He has grown each year and yes, Mr. Irrelevant says hello-you know how that can go, but he could turn into the best WR on the team. Give him $15m a year for two years and see how it goes. What's the deal this year? The largest form of his pay is some large lump payment on Sept 1. Not a roster bonus but something like that. Pay the man. This is new look Brock and WRs 2.0.

lol right? We should be able to get a 1st rd pick for a young WR1 then
i'd say play on it or don't
We give him 17 million then he comes out and has 1200 yards 8 tds then next year he'll want 30 million.

Using 2024, that would be top 8 yardage and tied for 13th in TDs. Effectively top level production, and he'd have been our most productive WR for two seasons straight and on the rise. It would well outpace a 17 million salary at the position. What else would you expect? Good players that produce get paid.

I have an argument. I don't have the faith many do that he can win consistently starting as an X.

If JJ is the best WR on the team then the team is cooked.

The issue isn't 1200 yards, it's paying him and he gets 300 yards and 1 TD which is FAR more likely.

We won't know but he's the most proven WR on the team right now with Aiyuk rehabbing and Robinson facing a potential suspension(and never playing with Brock)

The good thing is we have an excellent pass catching RB and the best TE in the game in Kittle to also help out.

He would have broken 1000 yards last year if not ejected. Keep growing. It's not a stretch he be the best on our team if his trajectory continues north year after year.

Sorry to break it to you: he is.
This thing where guys sign an extension and then within a year or two want to renegotiate their deal because they should be paid more really irritates me. There should be some penalty for players not honoring their contract. I guess trading them to the "Jets" is a penalty - lol. But the team has little recourse except cutting a player if the player doesn't perform up to their contract.

Maybe the CBA should be renegotiated that every player every year is salary slotted based on prior year performance - similar to draft status. As for the Cap - it would only apply to adding new players not already under contract. In other words, you have a player on a 3 year contract - his cap number is the contract number even if his salary is increased due to the performance slotting during his existing 3 year contract, his cap number remains the contract number for compliance reasons. But if a team were to add a new player, then the team would need to have available contract cap space to add the new player.

Complex I know - but somehow these constant not living up to their contract agreements should end.
They should have it in the contract where by if the player hit certain output the previous year under contract, Their contract automatically renegotiated to compensate and reflect what they deserve market wise in future years.

Juan basically output more than double his 7.5 mil of last year. So if it's supposed to be 15 mil, they include another 7.5 compensation in guaranteed money for renegotiated contract.

Players don't have to be a dick with 'pay me or trade me' method. Less contentious all around.
