Ya'll got offended because BA wanted a trade. Go read the thread. How dare he do such a thing….you had people in there saying they should have given his cash to JJ "team player, he would never do that" lol

NOW he's doing the same thing. People can't separate business from football and get all bent out of shape over it.

It's not an apples to apples comparison though…..yet. The way Aiyuk went about it was completely different and overboard, he even admitted as much. When JJ starts doing all the social media crying and BS like Aiyuk, then you can call it "the same thing."

Can find his replacement in the draft next year.
^ And Aiyuk is still doing social media BS even after getting the bag. Dude is a complete diva man lol.

Tired of this s**t. I say trade him

Shanahan's mistake in the Aiyuk deal was making BA say yes at the last minute. He should have let Lynch go forward with the trade.

I think you have to keep Jauan. And maybe let Aiyuk walk next year.

Who cares we are a running team. Sick of paying money for dudes who touch the ball 5 times a game. Just keep bringing in rookies and teaching them to block like they had too in High School.

He is honestly probably worth $15 million per year. Whether or not he will get it is another story. But he would have had 1,000 + and 6 TD's (he had) maybe add one more for 7 TD's. That's where he would be had the game ended without him getting thrown out. He's an Anquan Boldin type. He has it all. Everything but straight line speed. Big, physical, great blocker, aggressive, great routes, outstanding hands, will muscle the ball away from defenders, will high point the ball with his height, height and weight. He will even jump on fumbles. If the ball is around it's HIS. He always had this ability. It just took last year to see it. He's the type of guy who gets buried on the depth chart for straight line speed. But not how he plays. That's what happened all these years. But if you have all the other categories like Boldin you don't need speed. Boldin didn't have speed either. They both do it a different way.

I would love to see them extend and pay him $15 million year is about right. I'd be fine with that. He's worth that. Now whether or not the 49ers or another team will do that remains to be seen.

So he wants more than double what he's making now?

This seems entirely reasonable for me to go ask my boss one year after signing a deal ...

Yeah... no.

After the year he had last year and the fact that BA won't be available and Deebo is gone, I'd say pay him. He outplayed his contract big time. He's actually underpaid, and we need his veteran presence on the field with so many young WRs.

Pay him what though? How much do you think he is worth keeping in mind we have a salary cap and something like 92M in dead $. I like JJ and want to keep him but has to be a deal we can afford. He ain't getting a black cheque.

Dead money doesn't matter.

anything sub $20m per year would be fair for both parties

How does dead money not matter? Dead money and void years are a major issues in cap management.

This. It's laughable how some just disregard dead money like it isn't really a thing lol. 49ers are #1 in that department of cap MISmanagement and f**kin it up
Look at it this way...
If JJ is your #1 receiver your team sucks
If JJ is your #2 receiver your team is probably still not in the top 5 for receiving corps in the NFL
If JJ is your #3 receiver your teams wr corp is probably top tier.

Now you can't pay your #3 receiver 15 mill/season your #2 receiver 28mill/ season and your #1 receiver 42 mill/ season.

You can't have your #3 receiver making noise and demanding stuff right before TC even if he's underpaid. Keep the stuff hush or crush it by not paying him or trading him.

I don't think anybody here would be annoyed if we heard JJ got a two additional year extension and got bumped from 7.5 to 11.5 this year with 14 next year and 17 the year after with some incentives laid in.

The fact that we hear about this hold out bs is crap...

I mean you said it right there bro. Juan is 1 of 1 as a WR of a running team. We gave both Deebo and Aiyuk the bag as a "running team" I don't blame JJ at all for wanting more than 7.5 after seeing that. If what is being reported is what he's really asking for; that's completely fair IMO and JJ is easily worth that. Especially for this season and we have no idea how Aiyuk will be when he returns let alone what his future what the team holds. Dude still seems unhappy lol

After all that dead money they still have $45m in space and the vast majority of it wipes away next year. It's already accounted for.

He proved he can be a very high end #2. I disagree. Look at last year. Had he not gotten thrown out of the game he would have had 1,000 + yards and 6 - 7 TD's (maybe he would get 1 more). That's right on par with some Aiyuk years. He's an Anquan Boldin type. Much better than a #3. He gets buried on the depth chart for straight line speed. Not how he plays. It's a 40 time thing. Nothing to do with his skills, play and production. Which are far better than his 40 time.

That's because SF did it to themselves. They set the precedent when they rewarded both Deebo and Aiyuk for their hold out bs antics. Many of us said it at the time and lo and behold; here we go again. Why wouldn't JJ do it after seeing it work for the two ahead of him?
