Does this dude hold us hostage every year? Let him walk. We have 0 SB since he's been here

I agree, pay Trent what he is worth. But if they don't pay him & let him walk, it won't be a first round pick that replaces him, it'll be some stop gap filler Shanahan & Lynch uncover that they think is great à la Brendel, Bartch, McKivitz to a certain degree.

They are already paying him more than he's worth. $28 mil/yr with $39 mil cap hit this year
Either he agrees to a fair contract or trade him for a nice pick

He's elite but he's no longer the best in the league and another year older. Father time never loses.

Draft his replacement.

That should have been done already.

Obviously not, dude is still playing at an all pro level he just wants to be paid as such. I honestly think he might have 2-3 years left. Dropping a HOF All Pro LT in a Super Bowl window for a rookie isn't the best idea. Feel like a lot of people don't realize how important having a top LT is. I get the concern of him getting ancient. I'm all for drafting his replacement but I'd want them to contribute right away and not sit behind Williams/McKivitz. Membou last year would have been absolutely perfect have him at LG and let him slide to LT once TW takes a significant step back.

Right, which is why the FO should have drafted a replacement already. Not sure why you are writing "obviously not" to how we should have already drafted his replacement last year, and then stating that a rookie starting isn't the best idea? You appear to be arguing against yourself. Obviously we SHOULD have already drafted his replacement a year or 2 ago....unfortunately we have not yet done so.
This front office is so lame. Why does Lynch always look like his head is in the clouds? We are f**ked out of the SB for a while, I would bet on it. These numbnuts can't use their brains.

But you just said he's still elite

He don't even play a full season anymore, the money freed up can get us lindenbaum and then we can worry about his position come draft time, he old anyways, it's time, this getting ridiculous

Based on his track record drafting you ain't wrong, we are f**ked cause the front office doesn't know how to draft and makes retarded decisions to boot too, trading buck, paying Deebo, paying aiyuk, not getting Brady when he wanted to be a niner when we had crappalo, signing hargrave

Trent has never played a full season for the 49ers. He has missed games every year.

He has only missed more than 3 games once with us, in 2024 when he missed 7, he's played in 84 out of 102 possible games in the regular season, so 82.35% of games played, again only missed more than 3 games in 1 year, not really bad IMO, everyone has injury problems, it happens, if you take out 2024 then he's played in 87.05% of games.

And I think the 1 of games he missed in 2023 when we had the 1 seed in week 18 wasn't injury related as we sat a bunch of starters that game, but I could be wrong.

Im in favor of letting Trent walk sans anything other than a pay cut to help the team.

And here you are not writing contracts for NFL teams, wonder why?

I'm in no way in favor of it. But I'm expecting it to happen. Honestly if it does then they should just throw a 1st rookie in the first and see if he can cook. There just isn't any options I'd trust on the free agent market.

People have been saying this for 5 years and he's still all pro. Last year was the 1st year I was thinking it might be time especially with Membou. I think Trent still has 2-3 good years left as well, I'm not down drafting his replacement unless they are able and willing to play guard. Not down with having a 1st sit on the bench. If we had drafted his replacement a few years ago their rookie deal would be about up, no guarantee they pan out and you let a HOF LT still playing AP during a Super Bowl window walk that's why I said "obviously not".

The definitely neede to seriously try and find hus replacement whether its this year or next. Hes not going to be able to perform well forever and it's not easy t draft and train a tackle in the NFL. It's a rare player that can come right in and play well in year one. Those types are usually gone after the top 10-15.
