They have to get a LT of the future in the pipeline this offseason. This guy is so unreliable

Burford is your man!

I don't know about HAVE TO ... but it would certainly be nice. They didn't have one when they traded for Trent.

They absolutely have to, regardless if injuries. Whether it be draft or a trade . He's not getting any younger and it's a strong draft class

Can't force it. If there isn't the right player there in the first 3 rounds you don't reach for need. Need is fine after that.

I agree about not forcing it, but the opportunity should be there for them to not have to reach. Regardless of how they do it, they need to get a LT of the future whether it be draft, FA or trade.

Agreed.

Should be an interesting offseason with ample opportunities to fill remaining holes. Lots of picks and good amount of cap space

Except there are bound to be some new holes with some players leaving or getting injured and unable to start the season next year. NFL teams are on a constant state of turmoil. Then you end up having to fill a different spot than you may have wanted to.

Yep. Don't really know what the top need is going to be. Heck, Trent could miss time this year and someone could step up and be a stud and make it a non-need. We just have no idea.

Dang it. I wanted Josh Simmons in the draft (he went 11 picks before Collins), and now Kelce says he's the next Trent Williams.

All heresay till pads come on.

We don't know what Simmons medical looked like. He was the clear best tackle when on the field in the draft. Problem was with his injury and how it's a matter of not if he gets hurt but when.

People are obsessed with injuries. He had one significant injury. There is nothing chronic about his injury past. Not only has he shown very high level athetic talent but also skill in pass pro and run blocking AND he has zone running experience. Supposedly every single NFL team when asked had him as a top 45 player even with the ACL, and top 10 if he hadn't been hurt.

I kind of hoped he'd slide a little further because he could be a stud for the next 15 years. Of course he could fall apart too ... but it was a bet that I felt was good to make.

All that said, I like Collins too and understand why they went for him.

It was much more serious than an ACL . Tore his patellar tendon

This. That's why it's not a if he gets injured it's just a matter of time.

It's still just one injury. One injury does not make another injury certain to happen.

It's an injury that ends players careers

Not every player. It doesn't really matter since he's not a Niner, but there isn't reason to assume the worst.

Im just going off of the %s of players that make it back after , I believe it was only like 50% that make it back, and that's not even factoring in how they perform. It's not a a run of the mill injury

Sure, but you were talking like it's a certainty that he wouldn't be back.

No I wasn't. Never said he was injury prone, that he would be injured again or that he wouldn't come back. Said that specific injury is a lot more serious than an ACL, like you were comparing it to

Sorry, it wasn't you, it was another user that started with "H" :)

Yep and I stand by it. I guarantee he will miss significant time before his rookie contract is up.

He got to his 2nd game
Played well in this one, at least from just watching the game.

Not washed after all.

Most rational people understood Trent didn't do much off-season stuff and needed to knock some rust off

He's probably a top 3 LT all time.. I don't think anyone even disputes that, but even the all timers like him, their bodies tell them when enough if enough. The fear I have is that could be happening and they have not planned for it.

They have a plan ... Spencer Burford :)

Trent has 1 more year on his deal after this one I think. I expect them to act this off-season to shore up his position. I think part of that thinking is why they acted early on McKivitz.
Amidst all the b***hing about Purdy and CMC and injuries, this guy has me the most worried. He's getting killed 1:1, and I expect his play to go downhill rapidly. We have no continuity plan whatsoever.

Walmart is open
Washed.
Meh... He's still good but at 37 years old he's not what he used to be
No offense to Trent but he's perpetually playing through 100 injuries and is washed up. Please hang it up before Lynch throws another max deal at u.
For sure his last season

retirement on the horizon
Done.
