LOL - I don't think athletes are going to penny pinch on a >$100M contract due to cost of living (state tax is somewhat a variable). Real estate appreciation is a lot higher in California than other markets. And you have success stories like Steve Young and Patrick Willis that have transitioned their careers in the bay area post-retirement.
