lmao they have a s**tty pre season game and are like "man we need. Throw the sink at em".

Their idea of upping the offer is probally like adding a 6th RD pick or something.

Lynch is botching this.

How are we letting a guy who has zero leverage say the only team he'll go to is the Steelers?
He wont/can't hold out. The Steelers don't match up in a trade……even if it's a 1st rounder you can't do that with how much it hurts us this year.
2nd + 3rd would be AWFUL.

Stop reading tweets.

😂 yup

Good, puts pressure on Aiyuk. He knows the niners won't accept anything that they don't seem a proper offer. No one is going to rob us.

so Aiyuk needs to decide on if he is going to play the fifth year, accept our offer, or sit out.
Aiyuk is wrong. It's not down to two simple options of signing him or trading him to Pittsburgh. The third option, and it's totally in our control, is to do nothing and leave him no option but to play for us at $14m. Sure, he could hold out for a while, and get and cost us maybe only $7m, but then he's still got to come back for crunch time and the playoffs, lest he still owes us that year, at that pay.

Playing him on the 5th year imo is attractive to us. We get him well below talent market. Then we tag him, and still have the option of signing him if attitudes change, or trading him at a time we can actually use high draft picks in the year we lose him. Importantly, it gives us a year to get Ricky and others' up to speed, and gives us a much better feel for what we've got at the time we need to make decisions. You just don't know, Ricky wouldn't have to become Aiyuk's equal to make him a better option given the other people we'd lose with the contract difference. And Aiyuk took two years to become Aiyuk, and that is typical for WR's entering a complex NFL offense.

I'm for taking the cheap year, and going from there.
lol lynch is looking at the phone call and just like "nah"

When they decide to throw in an impactful starter like BA is then you can listen. Until then I hope John tells them to f**k off respectfully

Yeah. It's "very strange" that the Steelers offered us raw sewage and we're just not taking it. So strange indeed!

This front office executive probably works in Pittsburgh.

Lol it's extremely obvious what the 49ers are doing at this point

which is hoping Aiyuk blinks and accepts our (hopefully recently increased) offer

This is a day old
Lynch and Shanahan are spending their time negotiating deals with multiple teams so you can get more money than we can afford, and only then you repeatedly say No. You're treating these guys like pond scum. Disrespecting important people that are trying to help you has a time limit before they reverse course, and I think we're there.
I may be missing something, but they can trade him regardless of his desires. He doesn't have a no trade clause, and he doesn't need to agree to a new contract with another team to compete a trade. I see he can sign with the 9ers, get traded, or hold out from 9ers or team traded too.

Correct, but no team is trading anything worth while to us for a rental. He has to agree to an extension before they will trade.
