How many SBs between them?

They were a collective 0-3 in super bowls.

Bill Walsh said you don't invest highly in a WR until the rest of your roster is built, and sure enough, he had won two Super Bowl before he drafted Jerry Rice.

Why don't people listen to Bill Walsh?

Back during the draft the only player with a contract was St. Brown and that's a reasonable contract that I'm sure we thought we could get it done. And I don't know how having him sit at home losing money helps us ever win a Super Bowl not just this year. The FO is not f**king up Aiyuk is being unreasonable and thinks he can dictate what we do.

How I see it is, if you offer someone one deal and have no intention of negotiating past that…then you never wanted him long-term. So instead of f**king around doing nothing for months, trade him when it was the best time to do it or don't trade him at all when his worth is about as low as it gets.

I got no problem letting him sit at home and lose cash. Chris Jones did the same thing last yr and came back and helped them win a SB. Selling him for pennies on the dollar right now shouldn't even be a thing. Letting him negotiate a contract with other teams shouldn't be a thing right now.

I just don't understand why the NFL teams are over paying WRs. The Pats and Chiefs have won multiple SBs with average receivers. Meanwhile the Niners and Dolphins haven't even though they have good receivers. The NFL is a copycat league. It wasn't long ago when it was RBs that got big money. Then it was CBs . Then it was pass rushers. Of course QBs are always up there. Good WRs are nice to have but not necessary to win the SB.

The market is sometimes irrational, and you have to keep that in mind. You see that all the time in so called *real estate bubbles* for example. If anyone knows about WR football value versus market player salary value it's Kyle.

The problem now is WRs are getting paid as much as many of the QBs. That's way out of line. As great as Jerry Rice was the 49ers could have still found a way to win without him. John Taylor would have gotten more targets. They had a very good backup named Mike Wilson. I'm sure Walsh would have found someone to throw to. If they didn't have Montana they probably don't win at least 3 of those SBs. With the salary cap that we have it's impossible to pay 2 WRs over $25 million, a tackle near $30 million and a soon to be $50 million QB. They also have a RB getting $10 million which is underpaid considering what he does for the team compared to Aiyuk.
Wide receivers get over paid because LOSERS have the money, wide receivers tend to be DIVA'S, and they get the PUBLICITY splash. Lynch looks like he's going to hang tough and get his man at $26m. Great Job.

Because it's 2024 not 1985 where they avg like 300 passing attempts a yr. It's a passing league now. Teams are throwing it twice as much.

So paying Deebo was a loser move?

Right. People have been having breakdowns in here not thinking our FO has the least bit of common sense and an understanding of the leverage they've opted into since last year

This behavior is very common for some of our fans 😔

I trust Shanny and Lynch. They don't lose elite players without being properly compensated. Everyone just needs to relax and let this play out.

He gets it.

We're competing with losers on the pay scale, because they don't have to pay most of the turds on their roster. Just saying, be careful, because you can hurt yourself playing that game.

In this passing league WE are still a run first team and last in the NFL for passing attempts.

Not buying it. We're still balanced, and so was Bill. And when he wasn't, it was because he was using the short pass to compensate for a weak running attack. That dude got 1,000 yards receiving out of his Fullback.

For me, if I'm valuing Aiyuk - it's the replacement cost approach. Who can I get that can replace him? We'll Pearsall and Cowing are on the team and can possibly replace Aiyuk. 49ers want to see where these two draft picks are - football-wise before they either decide to keep or trade Aiyuk.
More and more I'm getting relaxed knowing John and Kyle know exactly what they're doing and won't settle for the disrespectful bs package Pittsburgh is offering. Really don't know why I doubted these guys, the nerve Pittsburgh won't even throw a key piece on their team when they want our best wr is diabolical

Agree, and I'll just add - our WRs *have to* run block we'll or they won't be on this team long.

No they're not. New QB contracts are double (or more) from what WR contracts are.

folks just have sticker shock because everything cost more. The NFL made $13billion dollars last yr…cap is the players cash and that s**t goes up accordingly.

Yes me too. The last two days have been the height of these trade talks and he's still not dealt yet. I'm certain the Steelers thing would be done and announced by now if it were happening. Hopefully we gave them blue balls and pulled the trade offer.
