This has a Lev Bell feel to it.
BA isn't playing his hand well at all. He can request anything he wants… we've got the nuts. Any trade situation is guaranteed to be in our favor.
We can make him play out his contract and franchise him the following two years for much less than he's alleged to be asking for.
Even allowing him to explore trade options is charity.

Just watched episode 6 of receiver on Netflix. The announcer said the Niners offense is predicated around CMC/Kittle and Deebo. No mention of Ayuk. While he is great he is not worth the contract he is seeking. I also had a disdain that immediately after the SB loss his family turned attention to Ayuk with post "pay me". Time to get tough me Lynch. Per the CBA state to his camp we have him under contract for 2024 period. We also have the franchise tag option in 2025 and 2026. If you don't like it complain to your union representative

the receiver market took off…. We all understand that. If he was a free agent the receiver market would be the single consideration when negotiating contracts. He's not a free agent though. He's under contract. Unfortunately for him, the alternative of tagging him is also a consideration… this drives down the value of his potential contract with the niners

The way Aiyuk handled this seems like he will be gone. It sounds like he already had intel on how much they are willing to pay him making it easier to act like a little brat during negotiations with us.
To me it sounds like they were some tampering. It might be hard to prove, but Aiyuks confidence and actions leads me to believe he has an offer.

Lol well the team gave him and his agent permission to negotiate with certain teams. So of course he knows what they're willing to pay him - that's normal. BA has to agree to terms with a team if we want the best trade otherwise his trade compensation drops drastically if he's a one year rental for the team.

Anyone have a sense for how long until the 49ers just say they are going to keep BA and he has to play on his current contract or sign what the team offered him by X date? I assume at some point before the regular season that the 49ers must set the stage for "moving on" from the drama as far as they can do so.
This assume BA isn't going to agree to be traded (because of "fit" or salary issues) or the 49ers can't work out compensation with another team.

Was hearing that we'd only have to pay Amari Cooper 1.2M this season if we traded for him. That makes it a lot more enticing. Could get Trents deal done and maybe sign some one in FA like Justin Simmons or Gilmore

I think this will be its own unique situation. The conditions under which a trade would occur are so difficult, there's no way they can be met. I think this was a way for the team to humble him and get him to sign. It's all about money for him, so no way does he start missing games and checks. Bell screwed himself so royally that I'm not sure that situation will ever happen again. The guy literally said a precedent on how to ruin one's own career. While I don't see him missing games like Bell did, I absolutely see this hurting his bottom line. There are reasons for TC, preseason and practices. I don't see him as the type of player who can skip all that, start playing game 1 and continue his success while avoiding injury.

Yep and we only really need him for this year. Maybe he would be happy to come to a team that is fighting for the Super Bowl.

It is 100% not Leveon Bell.
The fact that Aiyuk said no to the Pats means he's not just looking to cash in. Honestly this is highly frustrating as a fan who wants the best for his team. I can almost guarantee if the 49ers upped the guaranteed offer to him he would sign today.
Hearing they haven't given him anything new since May is pretty disrespectful honestly. I totally understand we still have a very good team and we don't NEED Aiyuk to win games BUT we also know Aiyuk is young, he's entering his prime, he's highly talented and reliable. Having him out there makes us better and it makes us super dangerous.
Find a way to pull this out and keep the guy here.
