Broncos will have something to say about that

People keep coveting the Patriots' 1st but I see zero chance of us getting it. That's already considered a premium asset because of how much of a mess the Patriots currently are, and barring a once-in-a-blue-moon blockbuster deadline deal that pick isn't even going to help us this year.

Glad you guys are optimistic. sounds like to me BA is about to be gone. Kendrick bourne isn't going to cut though.

The 49ers should be asking for (far) more than they should get for a legit top 20 receiver, simply because they are in the drivers seat with Aiyuk....and he and the rest of the league knows it. Without knowing what actually was offered in terms of contract #'s, it's hard to come to any conclusion, but BA has looked like the loser in this scenario. To this point anyways.

I still believe he'll be a Niner this year.

If BA makes $32M per he will declare himself a winner, despite going to a place like NE. We will initially feel like we lost and took a 2025 draft pick, another player or two.

but when that 2025 pick becomes top 10 next year because the Pats will stink this year, we will be alright as long as we don't draft a dud.
Until something is officially announced about a trade I'm going to continue hoping this is a hardline push for the 49ers to get Aiyuk to agree to their deal.

I want the guy here. I hope Aiyuk realizes that looking ahead to his 3rd contract his can recoup some of the money staying here with Brock/Kyle than he risks missing out on going to cold weather teams with uncertainty at QB. Pats have Maye who may turn into a stud, he may fizzle like many other highly drafted QBs. Either way that team is a complete unknown right now with a new HC. Cleveland is...well Cleveland. Even after their big season last year they sh*t the bed. Cleveland not exactly a prime destination either. Watson despite the start of his career hasn't looked close to his old self. Averaging 185 passing yards per game is Jimmy G level stuff.

For Aiyuk it comes down to following:

Pros to trade:
Get more money now
Go somewhere that is likely going to target you more

Cons to trade:
Go to a team that has questionable or unproven QB play
Move the family to the east coast/cold weather locations
New system/coaches
Not likely to win as many games

Question becomes how much is an extra $2-3 million per year worth to him?
Right now the best-case scenario here is we're offering $27M a year, Browns/Patriots are offering $29M a year and Aiyuk says "okay… I guess $27M a year it is…"

If the Browns or Patriots offer something insane like $32M a year then he's gone.

I visited r/nfl and the speculation of neutral fans reading all the tea leaves seems to be that Aiyuk is only willing to go to Pittsburgh (because of the team or the money who knows) but only New England/Cleveland are giving an acceptable offer to the 49ers. Maybe we're only "accepting" the Browns/Patriots' offers because we know Aiyuk doesn't want to play for either team? 😅

Lynch is making our $26m look better and better. Throw in a nice steak dinner with a view, and we'll have him.

If BA gets that kind of money from someone else, then yeah....he looks like a money winner....but not a game winner. SF wins as well by simply not paying it - especially if Purdy becomes more of a difference maker.

Bottom line for me is, I don't think he's been offered that kind of money from anybody.

We can survive without Aiyuk, but there are players we are going to have to pay in the future that we cannot survive without.

So even though Maiocco reported this, and there's legitimate trade structures in place, he's still not willing to stick his neck out and say it's a done deal.

This is the part that frustrates me with athletes. When we are talking contracts north of 25 million a year, I would rather sacrifice a few million to win than to maximize my bank account. I just don't get it. Especially when talking about NBA players.

Sometimes, people just value things differently.

I agree with you—winning a Super Bowl is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that is worth even $10 million in lifetime earnings if I will already earn $100 million total. But some players don't see it that way. They see this is their one opportunity for them and their family to be financially sound for the rest of their lives. That extra $10 million could be another house for their kids. If they make every dollar they can while still having a good career, that's considered a success for them, even if they're never ultimately on a team that wins the Super Bowl (only one in 32 can win it each year… as we've unfortunately learned more than any other team these last 15 years).

Its b/c a lot of this guys confidence our on levels we can't imagine. They really believe they are the missing piece that will make whatever team better. And some guys just want the $$$$

I think people are overlooking the value of respect. If BA feels he's been disrespected by the Niners FO (via some combination of Kyle's doghouse, the negotiation process, drafting Pearsall, whatever) then he might be willing to make a move that doesn't seem objectively better if he feels he's going to a place that respects him more.
