lol, yeah that play in the endzone he's critiquing Aiyuk saying he should do break in then hook his arm over the defender and then break out. I'm like, "but he needs to pepper spray the dude first to get out of that bear hug."

Shame on all of you for letting this thread regularly fall to the second page.

You have one of the five best WRs in all of football and you spent your time talking about dudes who will be out of the league in two years.

WR1. Always.

top 5?? i'm a homer too but thats a stretch

1. JJ
2. Hill
3. Chase
4. Adams
5. Kupp
6.... Diggs, AJ Brown, etc.

All great WRs. And Aiyuk is right there with them.

How do you put aiyuk up there with chase and justin jefferson?

sounds like he shouldn't but giving him the ball as much as those guys and he's right there
No way we re-sign BA next year.

We will be over the cap + look at Bosa situation.

I hope we can and others have said we will have the cap space, but if I had to guess some other team will simply offer to much to refuse. Hopefully we make a strong offer where Aiyuk is happy to take it, but.... as you said this FO seems to be monsters about pinching every dollar in a contract.
Honestly, I love BA and think he fits the team really well, but I'd rather keep Hufanga since WRs get really expensive.

I agree in a sense its hard to pay two WR top dollar. It will hurt the roster elsewhere, but I love this duo.

I was about to say but we have until...and then I realized Hufanga can negotiate at seasons end too.

I think we can do it, but it means Greenlaw and Armstead are definitely gone. We need another FB to develop as well. Can also extend Kittle to try and free up space.

I think they try to retain Aiyuk. Only way they let him walk without an offer is if Jennings, Gray, or Bell ascends to WR2 status.

I'll also say it depends on how the offense looks. We've had elite D for years and couldn't get it done. Id like to see what we look like with an elite offense.

Makes sense as well as getting full season worth of Purdy to see what we have there. Next off season will be interesting
Already showed how we can keep our core together long term, we won't lose BA, Dre, Armstead, or Hufanga, ppl have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to next yrs cap.
He's being under utilized on a team loaded at the skill positions. He has a decent chance to be a top 5 guy under better circumstances.

I don't and would defer to you. I remember you said this before but its kind of wild, particularly past 2024. Are you only talking about next year or are you including a 3rd contract for guys like Dre, AA, and Deebo?

Let's see how this year plays out under Purdy before saying that. I agree he's been under utilized in the past, but put a lot of that on the QB.

I believe they'll extend Dre to a longer deal, same with Deebo, AA may be a shorter deal, but I fully expect them to keep those 3 long term, as long as they play the way they do, they're 49ers for life IMO. Same with BA & Hufanga. Now we will lose players, guys like Burford, Jauan, Lenoir, Mitchell all could price themselves out of our range, we may have to choose between Banks and Burford.

But extending the 3 I mention(AA, Dre, & Ward) saves $27.668M, but in 2025 they combine for over $20.8M in dead money, that could easily be the sum of their 2025 salary cap numbers in 2025 under new deals.

Come 2025 is when you extend or consider extending Deebo, Kittle, CMC, & Juice, not saying we keep them all, but I believe we can, mainly due to the fact the cap will be over $280M in 2025, over $300M in 2026, going up $20M+ a yr each year.
I also should say in 2025 is when Purdy can be extended, but the first 2 yrs will be low cap numbers, same goes for Aiyuk & when Bosa signs.
