Agreed. His drops were especially encouraging

His 1 drop?

Aiyuk caught 73% of his targets today.

He had 11 targets... so you are saying he had 3 drops? I remember 1 that was low and the defender swatted his arm

The ball must hit the receiver for it to be considered a drop. While he only had 1 drop. He still caught 73% of his targets which is great.

To the QB defenders, any ball that the receiver can touch is a drop if he doesn't catch it. On the other hand, any ball that's high or behind the receiver but gets caught is a great pass by the QB.
I will stay adamant that the deep pass to Aiyuk was underthrown. Even though Jimmy did the things I wanted to see from him this game so I thought he did well overall.

It was completely underthrown. Aiyuk had to slow down and jump for it when he had his guy beat for a touchdown if Jimmy throws it further

Can you guys tell me around when this play was? I have the game recorded but haven't watched it all yet, missed most of it and had to listen on the radio.
Didn't he have a deep ball down the sideline that was called back on a hold? That was a heck of a throw by Jimmy G too. Really dropped it in there.
This dude is constantly breaking ankles. It's insane that we don't score more with Kittle Aiyuk and Deebo

I'm not entirely sure how we only managed to score a measly 14 pts against the Falcons with Aiyuk, Deebo and Kittle.

It's mind boggling.

It isn't like weren't moving the ball either. We gained 21 1st downs throughout the game and averaged 6.1 yards per play.

11 targets was exactly what we hoped for. Love seeing that chemistry and trust building.

We can move from, "It's coming!" to, "It came!"

So many drive-killing things ended those unfortunately...knock downs, brutal penalties, big drops, INT, stuffed in the run game, rushed throw/inaccurate, etc.

1 step forward, 2 steps back.

We aren't a passing team and when run game is abandoned, generally bad things happen.

It's not that hard to understand. The Falcons dominated the TOP by running the ball and converting on 3rd downs. Our possessions were limited. We did not force any TOs either.

Falcons had 8 drives and we had 10. We moved the ball pretty well. We just could not capitalize on most of our possessions due to penalties, drops, int's and the run game getting stuffed. We only converted 3 of 8 on 3rd down.

How many drops were there? I know there were a couple that prevented big gains but I see drops every week. They need to overcome those. It may be my imagination but it seems like the 49ers throw passes into the end zone less than other teams. TD passes are often short passes that are run into the end zone.Yesterday was an example of that. Two screen passes behind the line that were run in vs a pass directly into the end zone. A TD is a TD but too often players get stopped short and we fail to get the TD so we have to kick a FG. FGs instead of TDs put you one score closer to a loss. Jennings and Kittle should both be good direct end zone targets. This team should be able to score more in the 2nd half with the personnel they have. No excuses.
