So what. Fans have been dumb since the inception of sport.

It's football. If he gets hurt he gets hurt. Put your best players I position to help you win. That's what i want from my HC. Guess we shouldn't allow Trey to run at all. Let's just keep him in the pocket so he doesn't get hurt.

We should just forfeit every game before it starts. Can't risk players getting hurt. These men have no part in the decision of their actions.

Dante Hall did it because he was hot garbage as a receiver. If he couldn't move the needle as a returner, he was out of the league. That's your ideal returner, someone who specializes in that as their primary role and has to be damn good at it or else. Josh Cribbs and Devin Hester are two more examples that never terrified anyone as receivers.

I am a bit leery of Aiyuk returning punts when Deebo is already super injury prone. A player can get injured on any play, so why risk your best talent on low percentage of success plays? I think the people that are Gung ho about it right now might have second thoughts if Deebo goes down, and Aiyuk is injured on a return, now suddenly your top two WRs are Sherfield and Sanu.

Where are all these punt returners going down with injury? Half the time he'll just wave fair catch.

Rest assured hes much more likely to get hurt playing wr

He may very well get hurt returning a punt. That's not a good reason to keep our best punt returner from returning punts. He's a potential house call on every return.

Let playmakers make plays.
The staff seems to want to play it safe as to punt returns as a unit, and in general, ( ala James... ), so I don't thing Mr.Aiyuk will be asked to do much more than take the routine fair catchers and play it safe, with maybe a designed run back if the opportunity arises. Hopefully our defense is destroying them and we'll be getting good Field position regardless. Go Niners
