That alone should give everyone an idea of what our QBs have had to work with. Not many QBs in the league would have success with what we have had in the past 20 years.

Where's all the rugs fans at? Idk how many times people mocked me for having Aiyuk ahead of Ruggs. Don't get me wrong... Ruggs is a good player but he's nowhere near the scheme fit Aiyuk is.

I had Aiyuk ranked in my top five and was excited about the pick when it happened. I did have Ruggs ahead of him though in my rankings. In Ruggs defense at Alabama he was actually given chances to make plays after the catch. The Raiders have primarily just used him as a deep threat and or a decoy.
I remember watching Aiyuk in January thinking this dude is a dream match up with Kyle.

You won this 1. I only needed to see Aiyuk play one game to know he was the right choice.

We'll see what happens. But the amount of beatings Stafford has taken over the years I don't know if he's got 10 years left in him. I'd love to get a guy who can be here for at least 10 years.
Who says we need 10 years out of him???
Lol we haven't even gotten two season's worth out of Jimmy yet have we?
Talk about a huge leap.
We need 1 ring out of him....tops.

Does he have a no-cut clause?

That's because he's WORTH more to a 53-squad than Jimmy next year,....by a substantial amount.
There's no problem here by comparison.
If you could see eating Jimmy's contract next year as a possibility,...then you most certainly eat Stafford's.

I totally disagree about Ruggs not being a scheme fit. You are letting the fact that Gruden is not using Ruggs properly dictate your opinion. While Ruggs is lightning fast, he isnt just a deep threat (how Gruden is trying to use him). In college, Ruggs was given the ball in space, hit on a quick out, that Ruggs would use his speed to outrun the defense with. That fits Shanny's scheme perfectly. Gruden is using him primarily on fly routes and similar ones.
I am not saying he is or will be as good or better than Aiyuk or whatever. I just think "Ruggs is nowhere near the scheme fit Aiyuk is" is incorrect and based solely on the fact that he is being used incorrectly.

I was a Ruggs guy. I'm glad we got Aiyuk bc Ruggs main attribute (speed) would have been loss in this offense since we dont have a QB that can throw a good deep ball.

They've tried to get him the ball in other ways but he's dropped passes and struggled to beat coverage underneath.
I agree with you in that I don't think he's been fully utilized correctly and I think Carr has missed many passes to him, but what I said before is that just because you're fast doesn't mean you're a good runner. He's an easy tackle IMO and Deebo and Aiyuk are examples of players who don't need to be complete burners creat long runs. In college with wider fields and playing at a powerhouse of course that speed is going to show up.
I don't think Ruggs is a bad player by any means. I just thought before the draft Aiyuk offers more for this offense. But I too jumped around who I wanted so I'm not saying I was 100% sure.

From the Jimmy thread (snipped):
Man coverage all around (3rd & 6). Nick first looks to the strongside, no one open. Looks to Aiyuk who wiggles for separation vs TWhite.
One thing I saw from Aiyuk since his first game was his ability to fight off contact and break away from it. That's seen here when he fakes inside and shoves off the CB. It's subtle, but he seems to consistently be able to brush off the contact at the top of the route. He plays bigger than 6'0 205 when running a route. Wish he had caught this cleanly and possibly burst upfield. To the bolded, yes put him on an island, he's showing that he can win vs man on his own without rubs/picks.

I see these guys being very formidable next year and beyond. Remind me of Fitz and Boldin. Fitz was the X who would work outside vs single coverage and Boldin was the concept side guy who'd work with the TE.
Deebo can be the concept side vs zone with kittl,e and Aiyuk can be that man-beating X. That's what we saw last night from the Bills.
